Eric at avo is the man. I got my alucab from them. I’ve seen those canopies on 4wd 24/7. So cool that they are imported now. Ultimate setup. I thought I had mine dialed in.

Love this build from the start. I bought my jtr in 2020 and followed this build. I ran 35s stock height after watching his videos. Overall thankfull to have this resource for jt builds. This bed is my dream and one day I’ll have it.

One cool touch would be to put the factory “JEEP” emblem on the back of the new bed. Looks good…great video!

I may end up putting a ladder in that open space. Still trying to figure that out now. I do like that idea though.

straight up I thought this was an Aussie tray, one thing that gave it away was where the spare wheel was mounted but what confused the hell out of me was the number plate, great build look forward to the next video 🇦🇺👌

I would suggest for a future video a discussion on how to increase vehicle insurance coverage to account for the cost of modifications. This is something I have been thinking about with our heavily modified LJ. Until then I am using a steering wheel club to deter theft.

Holy Schnikes Ali! So much awesome - will (maybe) wait with questions until after you drop the next vid, but they'll likely be about how it feels center of gravity now, plus wondering about now that you're done with modifying the back of the truck, what mods will go in next under the hood. :) Looking forward to your next vid!

I’m moving to NC from NY can’t wait for the change my JKU has the pro rocks poison spyder armor and an LT1 looking to build a bigger overland rig and I think I found it after seeing your for the last 2 years. Think that would be perfect for the rubicon and head to Alaska then the Arctic circle

ODIN the Gladiator fitted with PCOR canopy was more sufficient and practical with roof rack with overhead lights mount, alu boxes and maxtrax and canopy with 150 Watts solar panel.

I don’t know what Gladiator you are referring to, but it sounds like most of what you are listing out are accessories mounted to his set up. This is just my initial video on my bed. I’ll add accessories later.

Big question!!! Did the setup come with frame reinforcements? There is a history with this vehicle either having too much weight on a hitch or having a rear mounted spare and the frame bending where it meets the cab. The weight plus bottoming out on the trail treats the shock frame mount as a cantilever point bending the frame with an unanticipated gully or something that we always plan on missing, but sometimes hit drawing up upholstery as it happens.
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine Жыл бұрын
The bed did not come with any frame reinforcement. I’ve only known of two Gladiators that ever had any sort of frame failure. One was a race Jeep and the other one was towing a trailer off-road and hit a wash. Both examples would have likely resulted in frame damage on just about anything. I may end up doing something, but I need to make sure that it won’t interfere with any long-term suspension upgrades.

Frames are overrated just back half it LOL
@KTMcaptain
@KTMcaptain Жыл бұрын
If you have a proper setup suspension the shocks shouldn’t bottom out. The jounce stops should. Gladiator frame is based on the Ram 1500 and is quite strong.
@Billrovid
@Billrovid Жыл бұрын
The frame can bend but its usually due to poor driving while towing the trailers off road. Thats not really a frame issue its a driver experience issue.

Really good idea, very Australian but too short I.M.O. Needs to be longer to be more functional. I see these things becoming popular depending on cost.

What’s the payload on the gas gladiator? This has to put you close or over the limit? The rubicon diesel is only 850lbs I believe.
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine Жыл бұрын
I believe it’s 1,250lbs for my model. So, I’m not maxed out. Given I have a full-float axle assembly, and stiffer springs, that definitely helps. However, that doesn’t do anything to increase the strength of the chassis. I don’t believe that’s going to be a problem for me though.

1:15 what was the cost of with just tray and bed? not including labor for install?
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 19 күн бұрын
Just the tray is a little over 11k. The canopy part and rack are separate. You’re a little over 20k to replicate this setup as you see it.

The canopy portion unbolts easily and leaves you with a flat bed. If you are asking if you can easily swap back and forth between beds, not really. That would be a lot of work mostly due to the wiring and simple logistics of moving the bed on and off.

@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine Жыл бұрын
It's a big investment for sure. You can buy just the Tray portion for around 11K and do the canopy later. Just depends on what you are looking to build out.
