This video was made to show to the viewer how I cleaned the right bank Spark Plugs on a Mitsubishi Endeavor with a 6G75 engine (V6 3.8L ci 3797cc MFI GAS SOHC).
The engine may be similar with:
2003-Present Mitsubishi Pajero (aka Montero / Shogun)
2005-2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor
2004-2009 Mitsubishi Galant
2005-2008 Mitsubishi 380
2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse
I’m not a Mechanic, only a D.I.Y.’er, so sorry, I cannot answer any of your technical questions. But, ‘If you’ve seen one, then you can definitely do one …’ and the video will speak for itself.
Some scenes in the video were re-arranged to show or emphasize a procedure that I should have followed to make my job easier and faster. A word of caution!!! Some parts of the video are shaky and may cause dizziness to some people.
This is an interactive video. Pause it if you want to read the annotations. This was also designed to be a ‘Hearing Impaired’ friendly video.
This video was made for entertainment only. If you follow the procedures that I did on your vehicle, do it at your own risk and I disclaim any and all liabilities for damages, losses, or injuries that you may incur in connection with your repairs.
If you like the video, please don't forget to give it a thumb-up and subscribe.
Enjoy D.I.Y.’ing.
Many thanks to all the Musicians and Artists.

i thought you just had to pop the hood, take off the cover to the engine block and your spark plugs are all right there. pretty crazy its this long of a process just for spark plugs but obviously things are different these days.

Thanks, most helpful. Would like to hear from the one's responsible for such a design. So much work just to reach the back spark plugs. By the way, in my case the Plenum bolts are 12mm and not 10mm. A+

On a Mitsubishi Pajero iO, the stem that goes between the spark plug and the transformer, suffers an electrical short circuit at the base at around 100,000 to 120,000 km. Not a big deal to find and change. You can buy the stem separately, and remove the failed part from the transformer head. "use a 10mm socket and a 2-inch extension wrench." The usual USCS/metric mishmash. No wonder the Hubble telescope lens had to be replaced!

@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 3 жыл бұрын
@GrassHopper- It is a “bracket” that holds the throttle body in place on the Mitsu Endeavor. Only the junk yards like ‘U Pull R Parts’ sell this thing. OEM did not even bother to list the part number.

I did everything in the video but when I start the engine it doesn’t turn over and white smoke comes out of it ?? I also did loose quite a bit of coolant could that be the problem
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 4 жыл бұрын
@ allen castillo - no coolant should be lost in this procedure, refill if the coolant level is low. Check the 2 coolant hose on the firewall side of the throttle body for its integrity. The white smoke that will bellows out the tail pipe on starting the engine is usually due to engine oil that leaked inside the spark plug well (which is usually due to a leaking spark plug well gasket) and when the spark plugs are removed, this drained into the combustion chamber and was burned but this smoke should go away after a few minutes of running the engine. May I ask if you removed the throttle body from the plenum or loosen its bolt or cleaned the throttle plate? Is there a check engine light in the dash? Recheck all your electrical and hose connections.

I didn’t gap the sparks plugs but I’m thinking of taking the manifold apart again and redoing the spark plugs and checking the plenum gasket again.

This is utter insanity just to change some spark plugs. Why didn't they over engineer it even further so you have to take the whole engine out to change the spark plugs?

Why did Mitsubishi advice you not to gap the spark plugs?
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 7 жыл бұрын
The reason... I don’t know. You can read this on the owner’s manual of 2004 Mits Endeavor on the vehicle care and maintenance section 7-28 and I’ll quote... “ Do not reuse them by cleaning or regapping. Change them at the mileage listed......”
@Dragonborn__
@Dragonborn__ 4 жыл бұрын
Probably because of the risk of damaging the electrode if improperly gapped. Also, if you're going to spend the time removing the intake manifold why not spend $30-$50 and just replace the spark plugs. I would advice cleaning and gapping old spark plugs.

Got so many questions but where literally inside the engine bay to get the back bolts?
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 7 жыл бұрын
+HardMyD - You can’t really see the rear stay bolts from the top of the engine bay. You have to literally reach in and palpate for it and unbolt it blindly. At 4:42 - 4:43 you can see my fingers pointing towards the firewall and then reaching down towards the back of the plenum. This is the approximate area where the passenger side stay bolt is located. You can see the mount of the passenger side stay bolt clearly at 6:15, it is behind the left most ignition coil while the driver side stay bolt mount is behind the right most ignition coil. 6:39 has a better view of the passenger side stay bolt mount while the driver stay bolt mount is only partially seen. The driver side stay bolt can be seen from below the engine bay and it is easier to remove it from there using a socket in a swivel and extension wrench.

Cars of today are so poorly designed, and over engineered. They do that on purpose so you can't fix it yourself. The big car manufacturers cut a deal with the Mechanics to make cars next to impossible to work on unless you take them to a "professional". I could go on, and on...

THis angers me, not because I can't do it, but because you have to jump through so many hoops to change some spark plugs that sit on top of the engine. I hope whoever designed this vehicle moved on to something else in life, and was permanently banned from trying to design anything else.
@isaiahtowers1865

Yeah after my endeavor started having problems it’s so apparent that either the designers of the vehicle purposely made it impossible to do a simple fix on your car or they did not know what they were doing, even just replacing a headlight was the most difficult thing on the planet. This car WAS amazing, had it all summer in the Tetons driving all the time, as soon as one issue began the whole car decided it was over with. I hate whoever designed this vehicle, they even made it so that you can’t put the radio system back in after it’s removed, the clips won’t go back in.
