This might never get seen but I want to thank you for doing this video. I had this happen to my evo 6 in Canada and was just so lost as to why everytime I did a hard turn it felt like my CV axle was broken. I ordered those 4 bolts and pulled my transfer case and replaced them. Everything has been great with it for the past 2 years! Thank you again!

Thank you!! This is what the gearbox mechanic told me today regaing my 6.5, it's good to see what he was referring to. I'm booked in in less than 2 weeks, is the car still safe to drive to work daily? P.S it's good to see MRT on youtube I use to work close by when I lived in Sydney.

Awesome clip. My makinen has been to 3 mechanics now and mitsubishi dealer. Been told c.vs or suspension as there is no diff "whine". Suspension is brand new cusco so i replaced the front outer c.vs and no luck so tried 2nd hand complete half shafts and still no change. On slow hard right turns only with no or little acceleration the slow popping/clunk niose comes from the transfer box. Read about these bolts coming loose but no one has any idea so good to finally find a clip

MRT Performance spot on! Pulled the assembly apart and 3 bolts broken with one left in. Need to buy a star bit to remove then replace. Did you use genuine mitsi bolts or a stronger bolt? Thanks.

MRT Performance I used 12.9 tensile screws. Don't have much faith in them as they were extremely cheap but put some loctite 660 to hopefully stop them loosening again. Keep these videos coming.

Ahhh the legendary diff bolts:) Had them done on mine and would've attacked it myself if I had seen your vid.... On the other hand them Evo specialists gotta make a living:)

The AYC fluid is only used in the rear differential on the 6, and also in the centre differential of the 7 onwards -- not actually used in the gearbox ever to my knowledge. Clearly muddled up in the middle of pumping the video out :-P

what preload would you recommend when schriming a new transferbox? and the same for the pinion gear?
