Mitsubishi F-2 Viper Zero - The Agile Samurai

This is one of my favorite YT channels, featuring breathtaking scenes from Japanese Air Bases.
Viper Zero is a Japanese/American made jet fighter /60/40%/. It was ahead of its time when it was first released, featuring co-curing technology, reduced radar-crossed section thanx to composite materials, Japanese made fly by wire controls and laws, Japanese HUD, electronics and AESA radar.
It is the first production jet to feature EASA radar as well as co-curing elements.
It is based on the General Dynamics F-16 Agile Falcon offer, that first appeared in the 80s.
In total 94 F-2 Viper Zero jets were built, among which there are single and dual-seaters. Some were lost in the devastating Tsunami in 2011.
Alongside with F-15 and F-35 it is the backbone of JASDF, at least until fifth generation Japanese fighter jet appears.

F-16 and Eurofighter probably. MiG-35 is not a worthy contender, never was and never will be.

It is 'STILL' a General Dynamics F-16 Viper......................changing the aircraft's computer software does NOT change what the aircraft is.

You are right, but to an extent. They changed a lot more than that. 60% of the plane is made in Japan. Besides, F-16 flies thanx to its computers, not because it is aerodynamically superior. The laws driving Viper Zero are purely Japanese, thus even if it was an F-16, it is a different plane. It is like the same body with a different mind, which is NOT the same person.

@@DNModels the GD F-16 is like the MD F-18, it is inherently unstable in flight, which is why it is a superb aircraft. As for it being produced now in Japan, that means HONOR is involved which means superior craftsmanship.
