Experienced off road driver. Those vans have a terrible center of gravity and propensity to roll over. Nice driving
@bigboy96936 жыл бұрын
Why , they have no weight above the dash level other than the roof, if you look at all the land cruiser's that have a lift kit, that is top heavy
@92clintonr6 жыл бұрын
Big Boy Because of the narrow footprint and how tall it is overall. These are absolutely without a doubt very top-heavy.
@bigboy96936 жыл бұрын
I owned one for 6 years, the vehicle is based on a Pajaero and as there is no mass above the dash it is not top heavy, have you owned or driven one. I have.
@92clintonr6 жыл бұрын
Big Boy I haven't owned one no but I have spent plenty of time in one. Just because there is no mass above the dash doesn't mean it isn't top heavy. The width is very narrow in comparison to the height which regardless of weight over the dash makes them top heavy. I'm sorry it seems I hit a sore spot I'm not trying to belittle these capable machines in any way but in comparison to some other SUVs they have a much tippier feeling when riding inside.

Nothing really wrong with the cars these days. They can do it and do it better. Problem is, a lot of inexperienced drivers are more willing to make the attempt due to the faith they have in their cars with all of its modern systems. Truth is, half (more or less) of the battle is still fought by the driver.

i remember going mushroom picking in some terrain like this, except with greasy clay trails, in a non 4wd l300 back in the late 80s, it had a heavy load in the back and tbh me and the driver werent meant to be where we were on company time, there was a few moment i thought we were going to fall sideways of the slanted trails to our doom, but the l300 was a monster and ate it all up, i dont think a lot of people who owned them were aware of how capable they were in odd situations yeah

@@Erin-Thor An l300 is basically a van for the city and highways not really for offroad, the montero is a capable family suv. Sure you can take the l300 through some dirt roads but it'll get stuck on proper offroad courses without better equipment.
@Erin-Thor5 жыл бұрын
Qaz '03 - Well then, color me corrected! My bad. I’ve seen videos on these as Outback campers, and at off road trails but the most extreme thing I’ve watched was an amphibious adapted one bobbing like a cork in the water but it got through. I thought they were pretty damn amazing for a van. Whoops. Edit: Mines a 2002, bought it in 2001 new, it has about 230k miles or 370k km, had its first shop visit in 2017, and another in 2018 (sunroof got stuck open and a manifold gasket leak), but otherwise it’s reliability has been excellent, esp. considering how many times it’s been airborne and the trails it’s been down. I’d love to buy another one but they don’t sell them in the states anymore.
@faded0395 жыл бұрын
@@Erin-Thor Oh damn I didn't know they were that capable. I mean yeah I guess they're capable but i'm talking about these kinds of offroad courses like in the vid. A stock one probably will have a pretty hard time but it might get stuck through mud or not make it through. Thought of buying one of those but i went for the TamarawFX instead.
