Bro DO NOT turn the VEHICLE ON WHILE you are draining the transmission fluid UNLESS you want to burn out your transmission!!! Turn on the vehicle with the transmission bolt still installed in the transmission pan drive the vehicle around the block several times to warm up the fluid then shift through your gears holding for at least 3 seconds between each shift. TURN OFF THE VEHICLE then drain your fluid that way WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF!!! You can also use Penrite cvt fluid low viscosity or Amsoil cvt fluid both of which meet Diaqueen CVT-F -J4. Ryco make both filters for the transmission. Half price compared to dealership.

Around 2:38, the engine hasn’t turned on, has it? The key turned one click to accessory. But I didn’t hear starter motor turn. If engine is off, what good is shifting gear between P thru D? Is there hydraulic pressure to actually make the shifting?
@Zaneandhismayn3 жыл бұрын
There would still be gear oil in the transmission. That's possibly what he's doing. But from the small amount of research I've done. That's a terrible idea for a CVT transmission. (Very small amount of research)
@jack765ful3 жыл бұрын
@@Zaneandhismayn I see what you mean. Yeah, it’s not worth it trying to get all fluid out of the box. For one thing, I don’t think that would work, when engine is not running. Secondly, even if it worked, now he’s got air into the gear box (if any fluid came out). Depending on the inner geometry, he might not be able to evacuate all the air when he refill the fluid back in. I’ve never looked at disassembled gear box, etc. so I don’t know if there is an air-trap that would require a specialized hose/line at factory initial fill to get rid of all air bubble. If can replace 90% of the trans fluid, I think that is good enough.

@harithsalwathura3 жыл бұрын
What is your current mileage now? You better change your oil filter too, if not your transmission fluid oil pressure will drop when oil filter is blocked with particles. Let your car sit for while after you drive, may be 1-2 hours, then your transmission fluid will set inside the pan. then you can proceed with the Transmission cooler and filter removal, make sure you keep your replacement parts handy(O-ring & filter). Once you remove the cooler you will loose only a bit of oil something like 20ml - 50ml, that's why you have to keep the car sit for while. You can fill up what you loose from the top. Cheers!

Just got back from the Mitsubishi dealer here in Japan with a bit of information you all might find helpful. Although it's cheaper and pretty straight forward draining and filling the CVT fluid yourself, almost half of the fluid remains in the transmission when you do it that way. At my dealer(I'm guessing all Mitsubishi dealers) when they change the CVT fluid, they change all the fluid using a machine they have there which comes out to about 8 litres of dirty fluid pushed out. So although more expensive your CVT fluid will be completely changed, instead of a only a bit more than half if you do it yourself. Which makes me wonder if your CVT change interval suggested by Mitsubishi at 30,000km for severe use, will technically drop down to 15,000km if your only doing it yourself and leaving almost half the dirty fluid left inside. Personally, I choose the dealer for regular CVT fluid changes as I want completely clean fluid. But for changing the cooler and pan filters, I say do it yourself to save money.

@Slo Mo drain and fill one time then at 5000 miles drain and fill again... but the cvt fluid is dam expensive so even at that you will be out a couple hundred dollars, not counting the cost of the cooler filter and o rings.. would not put it past me if the dealers dont even change out the cooler filter...not sure if there is a by pass on the system as with regular motor oil changes... if there is a by pass then drain and fill would suffice ....... my opinion.. drain and fill at 50,000 then at one hundred thousand due the cooler filter change and clean of the pan filter...
@johnnyappleseed72042 жыл бұрын
The dealer doesn't get all of the fluid out either so you're wasting money doing it that way. Do it yourself and change the filter and it will even out. The dealers only get about 70% with the machine they use.
@bearcuhh75362 жыл бұрын
It’s actually better to do it this way you’ll fuck up your transmission by flushing the liquid out and forcing particles to spread out through the whole system.
@reallifeengineer7214 Жыл бұрын
Mitsubishi’s CVT actually use a torque converter, unlike some of the Nissan JATCO CVT which run without one. Torque converter. Friction/clutch plate. Therefore, the same notion from traditional automatic transmission also applies: You want to keep the fluid clean, but not too clean. Changing half of the quantity at a time is perfectly fine. And just keep doing this at the severe service frequency.
