Thanks for the video. Yesterday, the police pulled me over and warned me about my brake lights are out. At first I wanted to take my car over to the dealership but I've decided not to go because replacing the bulb is expense. So, I've watched your video and followed the instruction on how the replace the bulb. I've finally replaced the brake light bulbs by following your instructions on this video and they work really work. Thank so much!

Thanks for this video. When I try to fix things on my own I usually make it worse but your instructions were so perfect. Another way to make sure your break light lights up when you press the petal is to film it on your phone at least that is what i did. Thanks again.

I change these bulbs so rarely it's always good videos like these exist to remind me what to do. My own "welfare wagon" just hit 300,000 kms last week. It's a pizza-delivering MACHINE.

I was thinking of replacing my brake lights with LEDs, as I have done with my reverse lights. Would you advise that I buy conventional bulbs instead? I have the same model, although I am in the Philippines.

The car will likely throw an error code and the abs light will turn on unless you have one of those “can bus” resistor things that waste power. This can either be separate/external or built into the bulb. I recommend the external option that Philips sells as it moves the heat away from the bulb which is bad for it. They are in my opinion kinda dumb because then the car will not tell you when the bulb actually burns out. You can read more about this issue on mirageforum.com in theory you can reprogram the car to think that it is the higher trim with led bulbs but I’ve never heard of that done.

What year is this mirage and what type of bulb. Great video!!
@welfarewagonrepairs
@welfarewagonrepairs 29 күн бұрын
This is a 2015 mirage but all 2012-2025 mirages should be very similar. The bulb is a P21/5W. It’s named this because it’s a dual filament bulb, the 5 watt filament is the parking light and the 21 watt is the much brighter brake light.

My mirage right side lamp slide of easily but left side is stuck with the car. I dont know how to remove it. It look like side pin is holding it and not allowing it to slide off.

There is no trick to it, you can just keep trying to wiggle it or maybe use a plastic tool to jam under where the two screws go or under or over the light to try and wiggle it free with a plastic tool

@WelfairWagonRepairs This is pretty good how to. My friend has this vehicle as well. But I’m gonna do a favor for him. And I worry about his safety. Those halogens and incandescent bulbs are not bright enough. So I’m gonna get two brands. Lasfit and sylvania zevo. With sylvania zevo led replacement bulbs are considered as set it and forget it bulbs. Because the marker lights are one watt and the rest as turn signals and brake lights only makes 1.5 watts and reverse light is 1.7 watt. The lower the wattage for brighter led lights, the better the longevity. And for low/high beam headlights will be Lasfit LC plus. Which is 25 watt making 2500 lumens. But with bulbfacts did the guesswork on them, it actually makes 3400+ lumens per bulb. Which is even better. Because nowadays, with a little economy vehicle, u need Super bright led lights. Vs. Other larger trucks and SUV’s with LED’s. For this mirage in this video, I would replace all the brake lights, turn signals, reverse lights and marker lights and interior lights. With sylvania zevo. They are extremely reliable led bulbs. Plus it’s a lifetime warranty.

Low wattage led lights are known to turn on the traction control light on this car as it thinks the bulbs are burnt. Philips solution is an external resistor that uses t taps on the wires keeping the heat away from the bulbs.
@toyotabrony
@toyotabrony Жыл бұрын
@@welfarewagonrepairs same goes for sylvania as well. So this vehicle does detect by using a traction control light is on, and uses as burned out bulb? Yeah, definitely would get a load equalizer resistor. But instead of splicing or tab the two wires together, alla lighting have pre-connectors that became as a plug and play version. And they have the 1156 sockets. Makes it a lot easier. Hopefully this will get rid of the hyperflash, by mounting on the front because it has more room to mount the load resistors. The back of the tail lights, it looks a bit tight, and no room to drill a hole on the frame.

@@toyotabrony the turn signal bulbs are controlled by the ECU computer. I am not sure if a resistor is needed. I have a video changing my fender turn signal lights to leds and I have not had any issues.

@@welfarewagonrepairs if u just put an led bulb that doesn’t have a built in resistor, or should hyperflash. Even if u don’t have a load equalizer resistor.

So my 2015 mirage had both brake lights burned out. I never noticed until my coworker told me. 1st time he told me (1 light out) I ignored it... next thing I know my abs light came on. I thought it was something else and ignored it. 2nd time I hit a big pothole and suddenly my traction lights came on to. 3 lights total. Bought a scanner and a wheel speed sensor thinking that was the problem. Come to find out I had BOTH bulbs burned out. Replaced both and now all lights are off. What a goofy setup. I didnt know something like that would trigger abs and traction 😂

Yeah that is a feature of the car. It’s a bit of problem when you try to buy led brake lights which draw less power and cause the car to think the bulbs are burnt out.

Top trim models now have led bulbs which are not replaceable and are suppose to last the life of the car

@welfarewagonrepairs I never knew that. I even checked the forum before and couldn't find anything from a simple search. Not until I bought a better scanner (had a basic for YEARS) and searched for the code. Only 1 thread popped up were it was mentioned. Then I knew it was the taillights. Replaced the bulbs. Cleared the code and good to go. Learn something new everyday. Good job on the video. Hopefully more people will see it 👍
