I would love to buy you a cup pof coffee. I am angree about ;lanned obsolence,, but maybe there is a reason for a thermal overload switch but why not make it accessable?
@welfarewagonrepairs2 күн бұрын
They make self resetting thermal overload switches that automatically reset after a few minutes. The manufacturer maybe concerned that the machine may have melted or been damaged in other ways such as a sticky heating element solenoid before the thermal fuse tripped so they may not want to be liable if you were to reset it, they also likely don’t want users to be stuck with a machine that has intermittent issues as that is a bad user experience. On the other hand the thermal fuse usually trips when the user does something they know may not be correct. In my case the water tank was removed while the machine was running making the user feel responsible for the failure.

I would be likely to do the filter from the top. I see people with Toyotas and other Japanese vehicles having to take the wheel off to fill the CVT and other things. It just seems so absurd they would design them so you have to jump through these hoops! I had a 2013 Passat and I never had to deal with such absurd design with that! Many people make it sound like they are a money pit that only a dealer can work on and that is simply not 100% true. Sure not everyone can change everything in those out but these people make it sound like you have to hike through the mountains of Tibet to find a wise man to get anything done! What they don't realize is that all vehicles are like this now and some of them are worse even!!
@charleshines570014 күн бұрын
I am in that situation with my 2017 Rogue Sport SV. The transmission would cost as much as the vehicle is worth if it ever fails at this point. A lot of other vehicles from Jeep and Dodge had these CVTs and probably still come with them or some equally horrible one. The nice thing about these being found in a lot of vehicles is that they are not something that is horrible because of parts scarcity. If you are not afraid of aftermarket fluids there are plenty to choose from. Some of those are a lot cheaper than the stuff from some dealers too and it may be the same stuff with a different label since Idemitsu makes a lot of the fluids for these vehicles.

What problems could cause the Add Water message to not come on when the reservoir drains to empty during the Descale?

I explain how the low water level sensor that triggers the add water message works at 9:06 in the video. It’s possible that your internal reservoir is not draining.

The budget solution is usually to install an “oversized” drain plug. I think some kits even come with taps. You could also try and glue/weld this in but I am not sure how bad your threads are stripped and how long that would last.

My Mirage has traveled 150,000 km. I will change the transmission oil as you did. I have 4 liters of oil and a paper filter. I have never changed the transmission oil before. Is there a problem with that? Thank you again.
@welfarewagonrepairs27 күн бұрын
I don’t think it will be a problem. I changed it at around 90,000km. Even if you change 4 litres still around 3 liters remain in the transmission as the torque converter will not drain.

Yes, it’s a wrench and flat head screwdriver 2 in one. The flat head to remove the plastic hub cap (if applicable) and the wrench is of course for installing the spare tire. There is also a handle for the jack and a tow hook that screws into the front bumper of the mirage behind the removable square hole.

@welfarewagonrepairs2 ай бұрын
I do not do much driving maybe a couple thousand km a year but so far this has never leaked so I would say it’s working ok. My only concerns are ground clearance and that the dirt at the bottom of the oil pan may not be coming out as this has threads that likely protrude into the pan and because I no longer jack the front of the car up when I change the oil.

You can fill the radiator all the way up and the overflow tank to the high line whenever it’s empty. Remember to only open the radiator cap if the engine has not been started for a few hours (is cold). Opening the radiator cap to fill may only be necessary if the car ran out of coolant at some point.

I recently bought a brand new 2024 SE, and I immediately noticed that it had horrible long dry starts every next morning, the oil lamp would take a couple of seconds to turn off after starting and you could hear the dry rattle of the engine, just like when you start up with an empty filter after an oil change, and I live in tropical 90F+ climate. I discovered that the OE Mitsu filters don’t have an anti-drain back valve, what the heck? I pulled the factory filter off and yup! It doesn’t have one. I replaced it with a Champ Labs USA made filter (my favorite brand, they make filters OE and aftermarket filters for a bunch of brand names). Problem solved, now it starts up and builds pressure almost instantly. Thankfully mine was just 187 miles in 😂. What I’m still concerned is of that 0w-20 recommendation for all temps, I live in Puerto Rico, we get 120F+ heat indexes almost all year round… Why does the US spec Mirages get 0w-20 recommendation in the manual, when the rest of the world gets the multi grade/temp graph up to 10w-30? I’m pretty sure it is the exact same engine…
@welfarewagonrepairs4 ай бұрын
Oil viscosity is likely chosen to meet fuel economy goals and takes into account the weather of the North American market. There’s a lot of discussion around oil viscosity and the different recommendations in different markets on Mirageforum.com I personally do not think that high ambient temperature will have a big impact on the recommend oil viscosity as the operating temperature of the engine is always much higher than ambient. I personally only use the oil viscosity recommended by the owners manual as I would like to keep my warranty valid. Thank you for watching!

And when the car is on the ground tighten the lug bolts to 90lbs torque BY HAND. You tire "techs" gotta stop using your air ratchet and you impact drivers to over tighten the lug nuts. I've never in my life snapped a lugbolt until I snapped 2 out of four after a tire "tech" mounted tires on my daughters car. You can also warp the rims when you over tighten the lugnuts, numbnuts. 90lbs on the ground by hand every tire every lugnut.
