Awesome, i gotta get this done on my Mitsubishi Mirage 2015 with push start and fog lights, there are a lot of DiY fog light install videos out there for Mitsubishi Mirages too, I am tempted to try and drop the whole trans pan, i am just a beginner though, i have done my own oil changes for years I need to change the plugs, do a coolant flush and change, I always change the oil every 3,000 miles, i use a lot of Mobil one, and i tried Super Tech Walmart brand oil, lot cheaper, its cheaper to use the Fram filters than the high dollar Mobil one oil filter. The super tech oil seemed a bit harsh straight up, then i tried Super Tech and Mobil one half and half, that seems gucci and also i have found that the Marvels Mystery oil works wonders for the fuel system i have 118,000 miles on the car, and Marvels Mystery oil in the gas has changed the performance so much, i am going to keep using that stuff, you can get a lot of it in one bottle at Walmart for a good price, i bought the Lucas oil fuel treatment in the gallon sized jug at Walmart a few gallons of that, and i think the Marvels Mystery oil is great, i have just tried putting sea foam in the engine oil too, that is supposed to clean up some of the, oil, so yep, i change the oil every 3,000 miles any how so should be pretty clean, i have not done a trans fluid change yet at mile 118,000, i dont thrash the vehicle, but was late for work one day on an hour drive and, yeah might have been whining a bit and being weird, so i just keep it below 3 or 3.5 RPM for the trans sake CVT are sensitive and the Jatco trans get bashed, that is what Nissan runs in their cars, and they are really getting bashed, i think it make a huge difference on the trans CVT if drive it like an old lady or thrash it, destroy it sooner, and do the scheduled mantence, i wish i would have joined the 3 cylinder club 20 years ago im only 40 but still, and maybe an Aptera solar power car in my life time who knows O yeah, the Chinese are really doing good, they have the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, $4,000 brand new, gets great electric miles per gallon equivelent lets say 200-250 miles per gallon, yet it only goes 60 miles per hour top speed and range is 75 miles, still that is next level and cant beat the price, 1980s Geo Metro 50 horse power, Suzuki 3 cylinder, 55 miles per gallon, just like 2020 prius, lot cheaper though
@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL3 жыл бұрын
So did you notice a big difference with adding the sea foam? I have never tried the stuff and was wondering what you thought of it.
@andrewkennedy38593 жыл бұрын
@@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL most people put the sea foam into their air intake and spray a bunch in there, but i just put the sea foam liquid in the engine oil like it says on the bottle, Nate's Interactive Auto and Project Farm show some videos on testing different products like Sea Foam. Their is different small channels that can potentially get clogged up in the crank case. Using the fuel system cleaners really works. I now think that fuel system cleaners are needed pretty regularly. The Marvels Mystery oil is very cheep and works great. I was using the Lucas oil fuel stabilizer for a while that was working great. Some people will use that stuff every single time. Will make last longer. Will keep things in the motor a lot cleaner. Sea Foam is pretty expensive. Some of those fuel system cleaner bottles are so small, it will be so much more effective to use a gallon of Lucas oil fuel stabilizer over 20,000 miles, or same thing with Marvels Mystery oil, or more expensive Sea Foam. With the Sea Foam liquid and Marvels Mystery oil they can be added to the crank case oil for cleaning things out.

When I do mine, I drop the pan and change out that filter as well, fill it, then, with a funnel to fill the system placed on the fill tube, I start the car with a bucket under the aux filter housing, start the car, and let it run as I fill the transmission, with a bucket under the aux filter arera, which then pushes ALL OF THE OLD FLUID out of the system...then I put the aux filter back on, thighten things up and check my fluid levels. Otherwise, you haven't even changed out 1/2 of the old fluids. As for the CVT fluid itself... MoPar CVTF+4 is the same exact fluid as the DiaQueen, at 1/2 the price. (Dodges one transmission is the same Jatco unit as ours) Great video but... If I didn't have to do my work on a city street where it's prohibited to do so, I'd take the time to make a video but, I've got to be quick as possible. 30k since my last flush (now at 60,00 miles) and the fluid still looks new. I do mine every 15,000 miles, full flush. Hardly a trace of metal "hairs" on the pan magnets.

Thanks for the video sir, by chance can you demonstrate how you pulled the wheel well back? Or at least how you made the filter so easy to access.
@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL3 жыл бұрын
The best I can do is describe how I folded the wheel well back since I didn't record it. I pulled all the bolts and from the lower front portion connected to the bottom for the bumper and the fasteners that are on the inner portion of the wheel well. Then I folded the wheel well forward to expose the side of the transmission. It was tuff to fold over because it's not meant to do that. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the very helpful video Sir. I saw that you turned off the engine after filling > firing her up and going through the gears (to fill the torque converter) >then checked the dipstick. I think the Mirage CVT has over 7 qts of transmission fluid. Aren't you mixing a little over 2 quarts of new fluid with over 4 quarts of used fluid? Is there a way to get all the fluid out, or is this the manufacturers recommended way to change the fluid? How many miles do you have on your Mirage? I've never seen a Mirage with much more the 100k miles. Just wondering if they last much longer than that.
@rocketshiftgaming56932 жыл бұрын
First of all, people recommend to change the fluid ever 20k to 30k so that the fluid doesn’t get too dirty and stays in excellent shape. And secondly you don’t see mirages with more than 100k because no one sells them, they can last for more obviously, but people keep their Mirage instead of selling it. My aunt has a 15 mirage with 193k mi and hasn’t had any problems. She changes the oil every 5k and the cvt fluid every 20k. She plans on getting herself a new one and give the old one to her son for his birthday. You can search the 400,000 mi Mitsubishi Mirage on google for a good story

Took my 2019 mirage g4 in to Roger Kedhi Mitsubishi in Tigard Oregon for a cvt oil change. They pulled the drain plug and drained the oil. They then put the plug back in and filled the fluid (and over serviced it at first) They charged me $259 and never even changed the filter. When I questioned it they said there was no filter to change other than the screen in the pan that dosen't get changed unless the tranny is being overhauled. After going 'round with the service guy. I gave up and went home feeling ripped off. I contacted Mitsubishi customer service and there was another exercise in wasted time (they don't do tech stuff ). After being told by Michael, a manager at customer service that he had contacted their service engineer who told him there was no filter to change that there was nothing they would do and that the dealerships can charge what ever they want for service. I don't know how to proceed from here but I can't help think of all the people out there that are getting their servicing done at the dealer only to have a premature failure because of improper care. Why would anyone change oil only to run it through a dirty filter.

@@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL What you need to look for is the J4 compliance for CVT fluid. Eneos is a Japanese brand you can get from Napa or online that also has the J4 rating. I saw a large number of CVT fluids that supported J4 from Mitsubishi. Lucas, Castrol, Valvoline, Amsoil, Redline, and Eneos are all examples. I personally would do Eneos as they supply Japanese automakers. Idemitsu also supplies Japanese automakers but I couldn't find Idemitsu CVT that specifies J4 though.
