Mitsubishi Montero Kickdown cable adjustment (Transmission / Throttle control cable)

Video tutorial on how to adjust your Kickdown cable on a Gen 2.5 Montero (Most likely the same for Gen 2 and Gen 1 Montero V6)
If you feel like your transmission is shifting too early or too late and the shifts are a little bit hard. try this adjustment to see if it solves the issue rather than thinking you need to replace the transmission.

Great video! Helped me a lot, I was at 31.9 and got it to 34.7 and it really did help with that 1st gear issue I was having. My transmission would shift at 2k. Keep up the great videos. I also have a 98 montero with the winter package.

He mentioned that you loosen the nut. I believe it's the nut on the right, then tighten or loosen the left hand nut to adjust the setting.

This actually helped me a lot on my 2003 Montero Sport after doing a full tune up. Was trying to figure out why the trans all the sudden had late kickdown issues when it wasn't doing this before and it was going through 1st so fast. Great video!

Nice video, mine as your 1998 model with 3.0 / 24 V goes up to 4 rpm to reach next gear if I rush it in the drive, in normal condition goes around 3 rpm to the next gear. With your info, definitely will adjust that cable.

You're welcome. I would definitely check if the kickdown cable is within factory specs. Huge difference..night and day. The transmission shifts absolutely smooth and the Montero just drives soo much better.

@@itsaboutfam I did sent my unit for transmission issue, but the honest mechanic check all spot before got the transmission repair, he noticed that 2 of 3 solenoid was kind of burned, that's why I thought that my transmission was in bad shape (with 217K miles on it), after that, making what I described the prior comment.

Wait does this make the Gen 2 Montero Drive by cable? Or is it still Drive by Wire?

Gen 1 and Gen 2s are cable throttles. Gen 3 up till 2002 were also cable throttles. 2003+ were drive by wire.

It was a fairly good video, but you did not really show how to or show where you did a cable adjument. Just pointing out and not physically doing would help out alot more. That's the hands on method. But thanks.
