On your 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander you there are 6 terrain selections - ECO, NORMAL, TARMAC, GRAVEL, SNOW, MUD!
ECO mode - supports economical driving by optimized powertrain characteristics. The power of the vehicle won’t be as noticeable and the car will feel a bit slower as the ECO mode name suggests - all vehicle characteristics will be geared towards achieving maximum efficiency.
NORMAL mode - always defaults on “Normal” and there is no way to change that. This mode offers well balanced all wheel drive dynamics. This is what most people use for their daily driving choice.
TARMAC mode - Think of it as a Sport mode. This will give you agile dynamics, responsive steering wheel. The Outlander will feel faster - try it out!
GRAVEL mode - is for driving on rough road surfaces but not quite as bad as off road situations. So gravel, unpaved roads will be the right selection for this mode.
SNOW mode - is for improved traction and stability on slippery road surfaces, especially such as light to medium snow covered roads.
MUD mode - use it on muddy and deep snow roads. The driving will be geared towards improved traction performance especially when accelerating and or turning from a stopped position. Generally speaking, used with low speeds, almost an off road type of situation. When in this drive mode - Adaptive Cruise Control and Mi-Pilot functions cannot be activated.
Hill descent control - is for going steep downhill. It will help you to maintain the slow speed automatically to prevent fast descent or hard to control situations. Works only at low speeds (up to 25 km/h or that’s 15 MPH).

Nice summary Thanks. I noticed the chapters have typos, Echo mode instead of Eco mode & Heel descent instead of Hill descent.

I just bought this wonderful car, but I feel that the steering is loose, almost as if the car is floating. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Is there a preferred driving mode while towing? I usually drive in Eco mode but assume Normal would give better power distribution with a 1000lb trailer? Thanks.

Nothing specifically recommended for towing - Normal would do it.

Good day, Mr, Mitsubishi, I searched all over the internet but couldn't find solution.. I have the following problem on my Mitsubishi outlander, 2022 year production: I set up position of my driver seat and the mirrors when I turn on the engine. each time I turn off the engine both mirrors and the driver seat goes to default position, and I cannot disable this function. so every time I turn on the engine I have to set driver seat and mirrors again and again. please advise me how to disable this function, thank you!

It should default to last set position.. Have your local service to check it out.

Which mode would be best for driving on sand (i.e. beach driving)? Thanks.

Mud. When on this mode, the power routed to all 4 wheels evenly. I did try on deep sand and it flew by the Jeeps on the beach
