I just did the starter on my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander SE. I did not remove the intake manifold, that would add a lot of time and work. What I did was remove the throttle body, removed the front bumper and then you can access the two starter bolts. After that you can slide the starter toward the pulleys on the engine. However, you made need to file a bit of the webbing down on the intake manifold but it will come out. It took me 2.5 hours to figure this out but I installed it very quickly and got it running again. I hope this helps everyone to remove those buried starters! Good luck.

Just did this job without removing intake manifold thanks!! Remove the battery cable and ground switch from the starter before trying to pull it out you should be able to get a wrench and two hands underneath the intake one on each side . And finesse it out at a slight angle FROM THE BOTTOM. GL all
