As a separate point, the older model looks like the ride quality would be more comfortable as it has smaller alloys. I really dont like the way manufacturers put big alloys on every car seemingly these days, with low profiles or run flats or whatever, the ride is far too harsh. All you get is people saying that bigger wheels make the car look better. For what ? A car meet or something in Clacton on sea ? Id take bigger tyres any day. Worst SUV I have ever driven was a top spec Range Rover with over sized alloys. The ride quality was harder then a Golf R. Totally f..king pointless.

why is the three rollers with one rear open so difficult? does it require full time 4x4? is the outlander awc still a good car for snowy climate like Canada?
@4x4.tests.on.rollers6 жыл бұрын
Both cars are definitely good for snowy climate, they are just not good for hard offroading, no suv is. The test when only one rear wheel has grip is the most difficult because of two reasons: A) rear axle is "on demand", B) there is less weight at the back.
@citizendc95 жыл бұрын
From what I've learnt, AWD systems that are not symetrical, have a much harder time moving forward with just one wheel and usually don't move at if there is an incline. The reason is that the drive shafts are not symetrical (left vs right) which causes torque steer when applying power to only one wheel. This is where the Symatrical AWD systems of companies like Subaru perform very well as both drive shafts are equal in length resulting in no torque steer when moving on one wheel.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers5 жыл бұрын
@@citizendc9 Can't agree. Majority of awd systems are symmetrical - starting from propeller shaft, which goes through the center of the car, rear driveshafts are the same. The difference between Subaru and others is only at front. Besides - car like Suzuki Jimny is totally unsymmetrical (propeller shafts are on the side of the car) and it has no problems with any test.
