Mitsubishi Pajero 2003, I can do Reverse but not forward help

Transmission got problem, i can Reverse but not forward, can any one help

I have one and it did the same to me - It was a cable connected to the transmission that needed to change - mechanic told me the cable cost around $200. We got it fixed and it work fine now.

I know this is an old thread but it may help others, Mitsubishi Gearshift cable, part number MR581204, its a dealer part and is about $100, hard to find, its also used in Chrysler vehicles but is discontinued at Chrysler dealers.

Me and my friends is now in Oman sur road..middle of a hilly desert..enjoying the scenic beauty of this isolated place ...only reverse gear in our pajero...almost 200 kmtrs to the exact destination...

I have this problem as well, what i have done is taken the center consul out so it exposes the gear shift assembly. Then place it in to drive and then pull on the gear linkage cable with pliers, there is a slight extra movement on it and it goes in to drive. This suggests the cable may have stretched and needs replacing, not ideal however as i have to do this every time i shift in to drive, its fiddly but it works until i get it fixed.

I have same problem but problem has been in clucth plates inside gearbox - burned out underdrive clutch pack.

I have similar issues, but my car is moving sometimes, and when this error comes up I get the two orange cars too on , I need to press break pedal to get the car move on

I fixed the gear for my pajero 3.5 2002, (5 speed auto transmission). now when I am at 60km speed it is already in 5th gear. It is like 2000 rpm when it is 100km speed and 3000 rpm when it is 140km speed. Is that normal? I didn't realise how it was before .

I don't think it is normal. Should do 5th gear after 80km

the 4wd transfercase is stuck in neutral.

It’s time all pajeros cheep now because all the transmissions failing around 200000 km that’s problem there all failing needs transmission overhall
