I just bought a Pajero mini VR2 last week! What size tires are you running and would they fit stock suspension without modifications?

37mpg is awesome number I couldn't get better than 28mpg in Junior!!!!
@LawrenceCamera2 жыл бұрын
I should have clarified that statement, my wife was getting 37 with regular tires and she always shifted before the turbo kicked in. With the current off-road wheels and the way I drive I'm only getting 21-24mpg. I usually shift around 5500 RPM but with regular tires I was getting 27 - 30 mpg. At first I kept telling my wife to shift after the turbo kicks in.. but when I saw what good mileage she was getting I started driving like her... Although it's pretty slow

Wow that mileage is crazy. I'm getting around 23mpg on mine, probably due to it being an automatic. I try to hyper mile when I can. I wonder mine are still stock tires, what did yours start with? I'm also driving on Guam so the slow max speed limit probably hurts the mileage as well.

Gorgeous Pajero, would have loved to of bought it off of you if you were in New Jersey. Looking around for one. Great review. What speeds can you use the 4WD in?
@LawrenceCamera2 жыл бұрын
I've driven it over 65 mph in four wheel drive. It doesn't seem to have a limit compared to two wheel drive but you should keep it in two wheel high in normal conditions since keeping it in four-wheel drive will kill your gas mileage and could be dangerous in a high-speed turn.

@@LawrenceCamera Thank you for the detailed response, this makes perfect sense - I'll keep an eye out for my Pajero.

Larry, are there any extreme difficulties in maintaining theses cars as a daily driver? I understand JDM parts are more difficult to acquire in todays market. I am looking to daily drive a Pajero Mini and take long trips in it. I was wondering how difficult maintenance parts are to source?
@LawrenceCamera2 жыл бұрын
Haven't had any maintenance issues at all with the car. I'm not aware of any special or unique issues unique tp these cars. When using a kei car in the US because of the higher speeds and subsequently higher RPMs, I always recommend that you always use full synthetic oil and you change it often. I usually change my oil between 3k and 5k miles or at least twice a year. As far as using it for long drives I haven't had any issues either. The Pajero is very comfortable over long distances and happily maintains 60 to 65 mph at about 5,500 RPMs with a red line of 8k. However to be on the safe side I would recommend driving at 55mph if you're going to drive the thing cross country.

Recently got a mini, automatic transmission with no turbo so a bit slow but I like it. What did you say was a good oil filter to use from the states? Thanks!

Hi Lawrence, very cool little 4x4! I would have loved to buy this if I'd seen the video sooner. I'm really curious if you've been able to get Colorado plates and insurance for any Kei cars or trucks? I'm on the West side of the state, so I can avoid needing emissions testing/certification.
@LawrenceCamera Жыл бұрын
Hi, I sold it to a person in Leadville and we were able to register it and get plates for it in Lake County the same day. It already had a Washington State title and I did the VIN verification in Denver but it was really fast to register. My vans required me to go to the DMV with all of the import docs and then get temp plates but since you don't need to get an emissions test I think you get the title and stuff quickly.

Hey there. Looking at purchasing one of these soon. Redlines at 8000, how reliable are they if they are driven a lot around 4000 rpm on highways?
@LawrenceCamera Жыл бұрын
I've never had an issue with mine when and I cruised around at 4.5 to 5k all the time. If you're planning to do a lot of highway miles, I would look at the Pajero Junior instead.

@@Ramiz112 Well I bought mine in Japan but the original filter is MITSUBISHI 1230A040 and if you cross reference it a FRAM PH6607 will fit along with a ton of others. However, I haven't tried it so I cannot confirm.

I just bought a Jr that hasn't arrived yet but I'm trying to figure out what kind of tire and rim offset these things can accept. What was the size of those Nankang tires? I'm guessing they were 15s? The smallest size I can see they make is like a 30x9.5. The offset on your wheels look pretty much stock so was there any rubbing?
@LawrenceCamera Жыл бұрын
- Center Bore: 67.1 mm - PCD: 5x114.3 (5x4.5) - 6Jx15 ET46 There's a lot of tires that'll fit as it's pretty forgiving. I didn't have any rubbing issues with the Nanaings. There's a lot of rims that wii fit. Just got to make sure the bore size but I know the Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe rims should fit as well as Mazda MPV if you can find 15 or 16 inch rims. Sorry, I don't remember the tire size but those tires were not available in the US. They were only available in Japan.
