I was on the beach today and it was very soft from the hundreds of vehicles that had been on it over a sunny weekend.The traction control cut in and nearly got me stuck. My Paj is a 2010 GLX and does not have diff locks. This is just the thing I've been looking for. I saw the patch loom but thought there must be an easier (and cheaper) way. I'm going to do this tomorrow. Good vid and easy to follow. Five stars mate!

Just buy Vlads TC on/off loom and switch (Australia). Google it and you will want it. First mod to do to any Paj Gen 4. Plug and play, after removing required dash parts. Enjoy benefits.

Heh, had a bit of trouble but after working out a faulty switch got it worked perfectly. Thanks so much for putting this up for us. Appreciate your efforts.

I want the opposite, turn traction control on when the rear locker is engaged, because turning on the rear locker automatically turns traction control off. That leaves you with an open diff in the front. Braking a spinning wheel in the air doesn't kill momentum because a wheel in the air isn't driving you.

Hey mate, cheers for the video, im looking to do this to my wife’s Pajero, just a question for you though, so the wire you cut, the wire that goes to the ecu is the one that gets lengthened and goes to the switch, which then gets earthed when the switch closes - what did you do with the other end of the wire that you cut? (The harness end of the grey wire)
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, so we cut the wire near the ecu. The wire still connected to the ecu is the wire that gets extended to the switch and then to earth on the other side of the switch. The remaining grey wire which is no longer connected to the ecu because we cut it, is left isolated and no longer connected to anything.

The advice at 3:28 was wrong for my 2013 NX. I initially followed this advice and afterwards the diff light was always flashing, and the mod switch has no effect. As soon as I removed the grey wire that was tied to earth everything worked as per the original (Vlad's) mod. In summary, cut the grey wire, connect the end going into the ECU plug to the new switch, and connect the other side of the switch to ground. Leave the other (loom) side of the grey wire floating (It reads 12v with a meter). Tape it off as a precaution.

I don't get this. You cut the grey wire and extend it, so which part do you extend? the plug end or the other end? and then on the other side of the switch you earth it, so what happens to the other part of the wire you cut

Hi, very informative video, but i was thinking, if ever i have 3 position switch and made the gray wire from traction computer common and then i mad: position A - like i did not cut the wire (so it's like factory default), position B - Ground ( TC Off) and position C - Open (TC ON w/c i can make R/D Lock as well) ... you think this is possible? thanks in advance..

Great Vid mate. This method essentially puts it in limp mode does it not? Have you had any issues when turning the TCS back on, and does it log an error? Does that matter? Thanks. H.

Hey how did you go. I want to no the same thing
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 3 жыл бұрын
Not limp mode, it just stops the ecu from being able to activate traction control in the event of loss of traction. No faults get logged in the ecu if TCS is turned off then back on again, so there is no fault log to clear which is good for us.

Hey. So what is the point of having TC turned off? Do you use it only on sand so it won’t try and brake each wheel? Cheers.

Do you have to turn the car OFF and ON again to turn the traction control back ON?

I was just looking at this as I am looking at different mod options on how to achieve this. I was thinking if you used a single pole double throw switch you could connect the common side of the switch to the computer side of the cut grey wire, then the normally closed side of the switch would connect back to the grey wire that was cut which would be back to the normal when the switch is in this position. The other contact of the switch could then be earthed via a wire so that when it is switched to the TC off position the grey wire to the computer is then earthed turning off the traction control. The only issue I can see with this way of turning off the traction control this way is that noting from other comments is that you need to turn the engine off and restart to enable the traction control when the switch is selected to enable the TC again. Any thoughts on this?
@Unfastened
@Unfastened Жыл бұрын
Once you earth that wire, only restarting the TCU will give you full TC again and make the dash lights go back to normal. Unfortunately I think if you implemented the method you talked about, it will turn the TC off, but it won't turn it back on again. Not without turning off the car anyway. But if you do happen to get it going, give us an update. Cheers, Tim

@@Unfastened Hi Tim, I have found a mod using a DPDT on off on switch. plus others including yours that I believe I can perform 2 functions. TC off in high range and TC on in low range with factory rear diff lockers engaged. I agree that the high range TC off function may require the engine to be switched off, however another mod I found uses a momentary off switch to isolate the power to the computer to reset the high range TC off (When the switch is placed back into its normal position) which then resets the TC back to normal without having to turn the engine off. The guy did mention this is most commonly required on models that dont have rear diff lockers, but that is just hearsay. I want to make sure I get all my facts right before I start building anything, but I am very optimstic that I can achieve what I am setting out to do.

Hey, do all Pajero have traction control? I have a 2012 swb and when I turn the car on, the tc light never comes on
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan, yes you should have traction control. When your Pajero loses traction, the 'loss of traction' light will appear on the dash. If you are driving around in normal conditions and there is no loss of traction, the light will remain off.

Hey. I'm from Russia. I watched your video and thought about doing the same. There are a few questions. You cut the wire, lengthen 2 ends. Then one end is connected to the input of the button, and the other to the output. And where does the third wire come from and where does it connect? Is it a button illumination and is it grounding?
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. So you lengthen the ONE wire (the one wire going to the traction control computer) up to the switch and the other side of the switch goes to ground. The switch should only have 2 connectors on the back.

@@Unfastened Thanks for the answer. If it does not bother you, could you please sketch a picture and drop it on my mail. stels-fizik@mail.ru. it is just that in your photos the button has 3 pins, and you connect only 2 to it? (extended wire and ground?) Did you just hide the other end of the cut wire?
