Hi Rusty! The IGauge quit within 6 months. You're right it is apples to oranges...It's high quality versus low quality and my point is, spend the extra money on the Mitutoyo's and don't look back. The Mitotoyo's are still going strong today 1 1/2 years later. Thanks for watching!

There are ways you can see if they are fake. Amazon is Notorious of selling fakes my buddy bought a set and they were fake. I would do some research. I would hate for you to have counterfeit ones. That’s pretty cheap.

Hi Bryan, that was the first thing I did. They are authentic by all accounts: Battery is SR44 and was NOT installed; buttons require holding down for the required time; least significant digit is full size; and the US Pat is correct. Thanks for the heads up though and thanks for watching!

Yep I had to send a set back. Amazon is aware of 3rd party sellers distribution of these knockoff. I seen to it & several emails with no resolve. One of the 3rd parties disappeared and popped back up under another name. I'll say this, the chinese are getting better copying the Mits.

New to reloading. Is this brand very popular in hand loading for its accuracy? Looking at the hornady calipers, but Im open to buying whichever is more accurate. Rather buy once and cry once. Also which range would you buy the calipers in, I see mitutoyo has a wide range for the model you bought.

Hi Dom! I bought: Mitutoyo 500-196-30 Advanced Onsite Sensor (AOS) Absolute Scale Digital Caliper, 0 to 6"/0 to 150mm Measuring Range, 0.0005"/0.01mm Resolution, LCD Yes, buy once cry once and these are very worth it. I found them on sale on amazon for $102, but the price today of $116 is still worth it in my opinion. Hope this helps you and let me know if you have any questions on reloading...I hope you review my reload vids as well. Thanks for watching my friend and shoot straight!

I just purchased a set of these from midway and my buttons look like they are better than the set u had in the video. They are firm and easy to push. I dont know if it was just an oversight on yours but I just wanted to give my feedback. On the second set were the buttons any better?
@The4GunGuy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Braden! Not sure about the buttons, they are fairly tactile and have a good feel to them on now all three of my Mitutoyo's (bought a third so I'd have one with a shoulder comparator, one with a ogive comparator and one open so I don't have to switch things out...I'm lazy!). Thanks for watching and let us know how yours is holding up after a bit? Shoot Straight my friend!

And Mitutoyo has a solar Version - no empty batteries any more. I got one for Christams over 30 years ago (yes that long!!) and bought a 2nd one 1 year ago for convinience by having 2 - one "plain" and one with the bullet gauge holder attached. Testing both calibers on the piece (pice of metal for example) I am getting the SAME result from the 30 year old Mitutoyo and from the new one! And no batteries for over 30 years ... If there is light in the room that I can see, the Mitutoyo is working fine.

Wow Claus that's pretty awesome and shows the level of quality in these gauges! Thanks for watching my friend!

How do you know which one is correct? You have no reference by which to judge.
@The4GunGuy11 ай бұрын
Hi Martin! That's a great point. I guess the fact that all three of the Mitutoyo's I have measure the exact same dimensions on items and the fact that after 4 years, they still do so is my point here. The iGauging quit after 4 months. From an accuracy standpoint, much of what we do is "relative", so as long as that relativity spans the three devices, I'm good with that. Thanks for watching my friend!

The Mitutoyo calipers are probably correct, but unless you have some reference standard it's really hard to know. Your one iGaging unit definitely seemed to have a problem. I watched several tests of Mitutoyo and other generic Amazon and Harbor Freight calipers and was surprised that there was hardly a difference between any of them. That doesn't include longevity, of course, which I'm sure favors Mitutoyo. I would venture to say that unless you're shooting F-class, even a deviation of 0.001 or 0.002" probably doesn't matter; it sure is nice not to have to worry. I'm in a similar quandary with my scales, because I don't know which one is the most accurate. Unfortunately, I don't have an ASTM reference weight or a A&D FX120i to compare with. In the end, my scales are "good enough" I suppose. ;)

It apears to me that your comparing apples and oranges? A cheap iGaging and an expensive Mitotoyo. The $50 to $60 iGaging is on par to expensive Mitotyo.

Many calipers are programmed fudge 0, to avoid customer complaints, as it's practically impossible that anyone is able to measure something that thin by hand As such, zero-ing the caliper incorrectly with dirty blades etc can result in a caliper that appears to be inaccurate While it is possible there is an issue with the product, it is also quite likely there's an issue with the methodology

Maybe you should look up videos on fake Mitutoyo .
@The4GunGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Les, I've checked against multiple videos and found that: Boxing is correct Cases are more "rough" as described by others Cases have "made in Japan" and have the right "label" on the ends Backlight and numbers are brighter groove is smoothly machined Batteries were separate and had Mitutoyo on the packaging Edges were not "sharp" and machined nicely Black and yellow rule line at end is curved and not straight So I'm pretty sure I have the real deal here. Thanks for watching!
