Installing Norton Commando CNW Electric Starter - Part 2 of 4

I am thrilled to launch this 4-video mini-series that features the installation of a CNW (Colorado Norton Works) electric starter into a Norton Commando.
The unit was installed and video’d by my friend, Mike from North Carolina.
Please note that this is not intended to be a step-by-step instruction, but rather an informational video by Mike during the process to install the electric starter into his Commando.

A further note about the electrical hookup for the starter: at 15:10 in the video I made a comment that is not correct. The large battery cable for the starter only goes to the battery positive IF you have a negative earth setup, like mine. The starter is grounded through the body, so if you are using the stock positive earth setup the large starter cable would go to the negative terminal of the battery. Fortunately, this is clearly described in the instructions.

A lovely piece of kit & beautifully made - I fitted an Alton, which is also very well engineered, to my 750 Combat a while ago - with a Gel battery giving 270A CCA and the size of a small suitcase ( !! ) it works a treat... I hadn't seen the CNW starter before but it looks to be more substantial. Top notch stuff, cheers !

If you slacken the belt as much as they say, then surely it will clip the cover mounting stud on the overrun.

i thought rewiring my A10 was a work up and i have a magneto ! i don't like electrics don't know why i have a Wassel regulator now and a rebuilt dynamo and a 6 volt halogen headlamp and it works ! charging at 1500 RPM i felt like i had planted a flag on the moon ! you certainly keep your train of thought focused on your electric's
