Hi Tom, I've managed to avoid electric starts almost fifty years, I never imagined electric start for a Norton, but it sounds very good. I really enjoyed the install, if I ever need one, I know it can be done. That does go in very nicely, looks clean, sound, and well done. Thanks for showing this off.

It would be nice to see some still pictures of the finished battery mount and battery cable routes.. I also would recheck the alternator rotor nut tightness after a little run time. I just installed one in a 1972 Combat, so far so good, and it makes doing final tuning and checks much easier and fun. Carl H

@CarlyG18 I will try to get some shots of the battery and cable routing, and thanks for the tip to check the alternator rotor. I only have about 75 miles on the bike since the install completed, but I have been pulling the primary cover after every ride just to check everything out.

@@friesenmj OK thank you, I route the head feed line between the manifolds and I stopped using the OEM plastic ones and use the Venhill SS kit.

Mike you did a brilliant job in covering that installation, thank you for thar. Question please the two adjusters screw that you adjust with the engine running to stop the idler gear spinning with the engine, do they depend merely on friction to stop it rotating and if so does that mean after so many uses of the electric start system do you need to check the friction is still stopping the idler spinning with the engine.

What are you using for a stater shim in the video ?

It looks like 365 Electrolyte Enhanced Water, 50.7 Fl Oz by Whole Foods Market and available on Amazon.com, but try not to overthink it, Rick 😉 I just use several pieces of thin cardboard (and I don't know the exact thickness).
