you both look confused as hell and I don’t wonder why, this is really a rollercoaster ride! just want to drop some of my thoughts if it helps; 4:48 Bobby is a great pillar in iKON’s leadership, but I understand what he’s saying here, June has mentioned before that him and bobby are alike in a sense that they tend to focus on what concerns them, than of everyone else, therefore he’s not really good in toning down himself for people around him whilst B.I and Jinan are the opposite. They said the true leader’s work is seen not on his performance, its in the reflection of each people in the team. so yeah, he lacks that trait a bit but then again, thats a rare find and who cares wherever he is, his team will slap and we all know it. A great example of why bobby is the brother (fun and supportive but lowkey will still need his shine) and B.I and Jinan are the Dad and Mom of the group (strict and nurturing). Together tho, these 3 leaders are the strongest. 16:28 Just want to say too, Luke James noticed their performance so they still winnin🤷🏻‍♀️ 31:14 Jinan and June did well, YG even said he’s confident to put them on a professional stage, probably the biggest compliment for trainees, but they are being judged as a team and apparently, Hongseok not having “YG’s color” is a huge deal that it put them in the last place. Like B.I previously said in the last episode, Hongseok is the better singer of the 3 new trainees but in the end, if he doesn't fit well with the group, that won't matter. Internally they knew Hongseok is having problems fitting in (take note of june surprise, YG can tell from 23:57, also if you remember their practice Jinan keep teaching Hongseok what to do from smallest wave of the body and whatnot) its not his fault but Hongseok is too rooted on his style (ballad-ish) and its not easy to change specially since its his first stage. Nam Taehyun from winner was having the same problem when he started at YG and he needed to break himself to achieve it. tbh I also think they did the best but I kind of understand what YG is saying.. he looks at everything in detail while we all are just looking at the bigger picture. This is why I have a love and hate relationship with YG for the longest time cause I’m like “sigh, yeah… but still, wtf!!” At first I was the same, but after seeing this show a hundred times, I kind of understand where YG is coming from (kind of) lol. In my eyes they all did good but I guess B.I’s team won because they are the most well put together.

Dk and Bobby be in a lot of squads. They also have a squad inside the YG called the "gang" wherein the mambers are Bobby, Dk, Hanbin, Mino, One, Jay and Lisa. Lisa is the only girl in the group. Not sure if Raesung is part of that squad

It didn't made sense to me that time too, but after listening to BTOB in Kingdom which is competing with iKON right now, I kinda understand what he's saying. BTOB is from Cube Ent which is Hongseok's Label right now and He excludes an aura which screams Cube Ent. for me. He doesn't exclude the yg presence that yg is looking for that time. It's kinda differently now cuz I see a lot of trainees in YGTB who excludes the same aura as Hongseok but YG didn't seem bothered about it now.

I think the difference is iKON has a serious hip hop YG vibe, and Hongseok obviously wasn't that. for YGTB, you'll realise a lot of the trainees who exuded that vibe were the more recent trainees compared to Team A who had strong YG vibes. And anyway as it is, for Treasure, YG was going for a different vibe entirely which is why there was a greater mix of types of trainees.

you can't compare TREASURE with any other YG artists specially iKON. They are really different groups in terms of their music, concepts,etc. iKON is focused on the core YG style which is hip hop, swagger and all of which Hongseok doesn't really have and on the other hand TREASURE is a group focused on teen style since its a group with age average of 16 they are the newest concept in YG which even led to one of the member leaving the group bcoz he joined YG bcoz of the music direction and TREASURE wasn't on that direction.

Back then it didn't make sense to me as well. I mean, Jinhwan, Junhoe and Hongseok TEAM was my fave in that battle. I whined about why they didn't win and I also didn't understand why they made such comments about their team when it was perfect from what I witnessed. But here's the thing... as the show progressed I saw and felt what they were pointing out... Hongseok didn't really have that YG color in him, not that it was a bad thing but it's not in parallel with how they're establishing iKON to be. Now that I think about it, he's so much better in Pentagon. Idk really, there's no way of explaining it but you'll eventually feel it, I swear. Chanwoo from the start had the same vibe as iKON, you'll see he didn't even have a hard time fitting in, and that's something that is not teachable, tbh. You have to have that inane character within you. It was natural for him that's why. :)

fact: Hanna Jang was origin in PinkPunk (BlackPink) so she (and the other PinkPunk members) still traines. Yg have a strict rule that female and male traines can not see each other, diferent place to practice and diferent time. on a show Yoon(WINNER) said when he was a trainee they felt that female trainees were very mysterious, they were curious if she was pretty, could sing well. That's why they are very panic and shy when seeing the girl

Yunhyeong literally not a YG style at first because he go for acting career but ends up being an idol. Like Hanbin said yunhyeong really improved a lot coz when he got in YG he don’t know how to dance and sing. And I’m so thankful that he pursue this kind of career. Maybe I was super biased when I watched this but I knew what YG was talking about. The thing is when all three of their vocals are put together, Hong Seok’s voice was just too sweet and gentle compared to the other two. He didn’t have that power behind his voice to match them. Whenever it’s his turn to sing there’s always this strange feeling like you are listening to a song on the radio, and it just snapped to another channel. I can’t explain what it is but that’s just how I felt. Also for YG the group always came first, which was why Rosé changed the way she sings so much for BP. If you have ever listen to GD’s song featuring Rosé, you’ll notice how different she sounded.

Bigbang said it that even when they debuted and when one of them got too much self love that blinded them, there was Yg to tell them the cold truth and make them be realistic and come to earth. I think the way you judge their performances is based on skills! that's why you disagree with Yg and his team votes. Because they vote based on everything, they are there and can sense if someone is more nervous or less, if someone blends better or not, etc. At the end the aim of this show is to mix and match members to get the most perfect mix of a group. Also remember the TBox Seunghun vs Mashiho, Seunghun showed more impressive vocals but Mashiho was FEELING the performance, that's why he won. In this show too this is what they judge, the feeling

29:14 the guy himself admitted that YG read him so well, that he didn't feel like he was blending. Yes, Yang has explained what is, they need more time and practice. Also this is something Yang cannot say to them, he is not responsible to say to them how to improve. He is the pro and knows they have to practice and find their own way through this team. He has been all his life training trainees and hundreds of them have been rejected so he has experience. When a person really WANTS something, they make it work, they work hard and improve. That is what's lacking in this guy that even the other 2 (CW and JH) don't have as it is noticeable that they at least try to blend so hard.

YG is more focused to hiphop. Even WINNER said before in jyp party that they felt like they were like the "ugky duckling" in yg coz all groups are more into hiphop. Hongseok is a great vocalist NO DOUBT but his color don't fit in iKON's colo (or maybe at least what yg wanted for iKON). Chanwoo don't have voice like Hongseok or Jinhyeong but he blend with Team B so much.

Actually i really like june, hongseok, and jinhwan's team performance. Hongseok got a nice voice and good singing techniques, but yeah as yg said his style is kinda different with ikon. He also has the shortest training period so it might be hard for him, i'm glad he's in pentagon now that fits his color more.

I always felt so bad about Hongseok tbh..he was literally fresh faced and new to this would survival show thing let alone YG survival show. He’s more of a vocalist than a dancer and he just go thrown as a last minute addition to this show. I mean how can he really get on that level of others who’ve been training in YG or had experience in dancing? Also, he was getting so much hate from knets because of that informal introduction when he wanted to be friends with Jinhwan cuz they’re same aged. I mean Hongseok was raised overseas, his way of becoming friends or talking was different and he got A LOT OF HATE FOR THAT ONE CLIP + so many other over exaggerated stories after Mix & Match that traumatized him even until now. Knets are BRUTALLLLLL, BUT I’m glad he’s overcoming that anxiety now and being more of himself. I was worried for him cuz even when he joined CUBE and debuted in PENTAGON.. he really was to conscious about how he talks or just really kept to himself. Even his confidence and bright personality that was shown in special clips of MIX & MATCH was broken..gone. Ughh it was rough for me to see him like that especially cuz he has such a great voice and has so much potential. But LOOK AT HIM NOW.. he’s doing amazingly well in Pentagon..he’s a lead vocalist, but is now covering as main vocalist since their leader and main vocalist enlisted. He’s got to shown his uniquely charming personality + intelligence on variety shows and of course he’s known for his god-like body. Dude be doing KZbin health/nutrition videos while doing various acting gigs, MC gigs, men’s health magazine shoots, and etc. Also, he still maintains such a good friendship with IKON, even though they don’t show it often..there is sweet interactions between Hongseok and IKON. Hongseok said..it was a tough experience being a YG trainee, but he’s so grateful for it and the things he’s learned from it especially from BI. Ever since then...he’s put 300% effort, practice, and hard work in everything he does. He wouldn’t be who he is today without his experiences in YG. 👍

you should be aware by now since you react to many yg artists that every company has it's own color... that's why you can hear other say like... yg swag... even when a trainee is very good he might get eliminated bec he cannot blend with the group's style... like jinwhan said earlier to hongseok, his style is for ballads, not only the voice matters but how you dance, perform and act/gestures must conform with what color/image your group is potraying...

Probably there were other trainees/participants than chanwoo,jinhyeong,Hoseok. but these 3 must have passed an audition and got into M&M.

When M&M first broadcasted my opinion was Jinhwan's team on 3rd as well. After watching withvyou guys I still think like that. But seeing that you think they did best I realize how people's taste could effect. I still think that Jay's team was least YG-ish in here that's probably the reaosn they got in 3rd

I also think it is not "fair" to Hongseok too but I get it why YG is like this in Mix and Match. This show is literally about finding teammates for BI, Bobby and Jinhwan. It's not the real talent competition. Unlike Treasure Box which is more about "finding out gems from this company and put it together like a treasure box", the concept for ikon and its leaders are already there. So who can "match" with them, who make it. I actually didn't watch MIX & MATCH when it was airing, but I still remember just like how BI hated the idea of welcoming the new member at first, the original fans who had been rooting for Team B since WIN also kind of hated it. They were kind of like "why Team B went through everything in WIN, worked their ass off, and already earn so much popularity for the group before their debut, and some new kids can hitchhike on to this promised boat". Something like that. So I think what YG's saying here is more like a reminder to the 3 new contestants, the show is about debuting Team B, not about debuting YGs most talented trainees. But of course if you are so talented and everybody can tell you are a super star, YG cant afford to lose you, then the original TB member might have to go home. But I do think the 3 new boys are not at there YET. But I am not saying Hongseok is not talented enough. I also love the vocal stage the most😭 (It's something that's new and unexpected. would be a great moment if it is not about "mixing" and "matching") I believe if this was a project like Treasure, he probably got a lot of praises

WIN is bad because it was said that the loser group will be cut, YGTB is dramatic because a lot of people and emotions are involved but yo M&M is cruel because these kids are already wounded from a previous survival show and on top of that here they are put to battle each other.. not saying one thing is better than the other because all of them are heartbreaking but damn.

For the group performance with girls... I found it unfair that Jay's team did not have a FEMALE RAPPER... Like that was the least YG could have done for him. It was really unfair because Jay's team always SEEMS LIKE they're lacking EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT because his team NEVER HAS a single Rapper.

First time I watched this, I felt jay's team definitely didn't deserved to be the last...not the other two deserved it tho...just felt so wronged jay's team be the last... But after watched it few times, I kinda understand what yg mean...jay n june made the song like a flirt song (the kinda song u sang in front of a girl u like) meanwhile hongseok made it a heartbroken song (the kinda already lost a girl)... Not that ruined the whole performance for me personally, I still enjoyed it tho... But apparently it was a big deal for yg...so...
