I will say it again... "Mitch Gallagher is one of, if not, the most valuable asset Sweetwater has to offer. "

Wow, the MCU is still in production. I remember being obsessed with it over a decade ago.

IMO it has one of the best layouts of all surfaces, and I own the Faderport 16

I like having my Presonus 16 controller for Studio One. One really nice feature is there is a footswitch that allows me to start and stop recording hands free.

Clearly you’re using personal experiences to see how people like myself who is all about the feeling the song with faders… I really love how the clear you are about the process. You’re not selling anything. Awesome to see the sharing and giving people insight through perspective! Love it 🙌🏿 @Phinestro

I think your best point and the case for a controller is it is a method that takes your eyes off the screen. I learned from Warren Huart to also turn around when listening. Thanks Mitch. I'm in the market for the 16 port Presonus for my Studio One DAW. Joe

I thought you were just going to go about "you can actually touch the faders!" for five minutes...but once you moved onto transport controls, scrolling in your mix, and zooming in and out...yeah this is definitely a must have!

Thanks Mitch, being new to music making I’ve been brought up in the mouse and keyboard world, but my Berklee mix teachers have all emphasized don’t use your eyes, use your ears, as opposed to some “online experts” who say oh just look at the eq frequency and change that. I think the approach with hands on controllers is a great way to get away from mixing with eyes and mixing with ears. I’ll have to find something I like to go with Logic Pro or Reason.

Hi Mitch, I recently bought a MCU with extention and C4 to control my DAW (Reason 12). I would love to find a complete user tutorial but there is none out there. I am sure that Sweet Water's influence would benefit from this and drive more sales.

Agreed I prefer using a control surface directly Tascam 24 allows me to explore quick sound checks and idea's that I can roughly fade and mix with my ears Once I have discovered something worthwhile to move to the DAW then I will do so for final mixing master... I find it much more exciting and enjoyable to work in this way otherwise you get caught up in a mouse and monitor....

It seem nice because its small enough for my desk. Is it easy for a beginner to us? This sounds so interesting.

Thanks Mitch. Your using Luna and I have Luna and the Mackie controller works fine. I was s thinking of saving a few dollars and purchasing the Tascam Model 12 for the controller and for multitrack recording without the computer. Is there anything I may not be aware of? Great video.

Great video brother but my MCU Pro has been acting really strange with Logic Pro. I might have changed something by accident. Whenever I go from track to track 3 faders go out of sync, also when I record and I delete a file that has been recorded, the same faders move again. It's just that almost anything I do the same 3 faders move. Can anyone please help?

I got the 24 track one because I got 6 hands. Next one I get better have mind control control , that has master based dopamine release.

I had this for about 3rys and now the fader banks are not working and all of a sudden I'm only getting 16 selected faders even if I have 40 tracks in a session. The bank does not roll over to another set of faders, again after 16 nothing happens.

Try this. Go to Studio-More Options-Mackie Control instead of Cubase switch to Compatibility. Worth a try>

I have the faderport 16 and for me the 16 faders wins over all the other models and you can even edit plugins! I re mapped the function buttons to open library, inspector, file tab etc it’s super powerful

The controllers today are nonsense and marketing until they can be used for any plugins. Majority of mouse use is plugins.
