Wow Mitch, great song and video!!! I like to buss all of my elements and then create the "initial static" balance per buss. I like to gain stage my tracks 1st (or tracks from others) to -12DB, this keeps my faders at 0, then the balance starts. Since I rarely work with vocal tracks because I make mostly instrumentals at home, the "fundamentals" I start with are the low end elements: kicks and basses (including the 808 bass sounds) against the remaining drums. Then, I'll blend in the "main keys" and blend together and finally blending all remaining elements without plugins. I'm a converted fan of channel strips through my Plugin-Alliance sub. Keep the videos coming. I will definitely use your tips going forward.

Love the Sweetwater vids, Mitch you are one hell of a reviewer and teacher. Keep it up! Some of those tracks in the session look like they were recorded really hot and clipped. Is that the case or just clip gained higher from original recording?

That clean guitar that's panned right . . . that whole part could use a nudge like 100milliseconds less early. Not to nitpick. But I do a one-man recording studio KZbin channel, so I spend like 50 hours a week mixing and couldn't help but to hear how very early that guitar was. Anyway, nice video, thanks! Maybe check out my new D'yer Mak'er cover, see what you think of my playing/singing/mixing/mastering? *edit: now that you've brought in the left side guitar, it also being early, I think it must be on purpose to make the drums feel late for power, seeing-as-how they're playing on the crashes/changes?
