Back in the 1960s & 70s mixed doubles was extremely popular. It used to generate much media attention and the matches were always shown on TV. In fact there were special tournaments which were mixed doubles only. Interesting how nowadays much of the game is dominated by the women who rely on skillful play whereas the men rely on power play. I think the game of mixed could be improved if the ball was modified and had less exit speed. This would neutralize some of the men's power game and make for a more interesting type of match.

@DiM but he does have another angle which is worthy of consideration, combining men's play with female players is a good way to keep the game fresh and add another dimension. sure you are taking away the sheer competitiveness but you are adding tactical adjustments, communication, a little more drawn out plays

I have to say Bopanna was the weak link in this match, he missed a lot of relatively easy forehands and Babos was on fire, I think she even took that overhead just because she didn’t want him to miss. Pavic also played really well it would’ve been awesome if he was on the same team as Babos
