British folks are not so surprised by racial differences between parent and child from mixed families as Americans appear to be. They’re much more surprised with age differences, regardless of race. Similarly to Dutch folks, they will either study you or ask out loud how old you are if they are puzzled by your age. It’s important to them that they speak to you in the right level to avoid cringe and embarrassment.

I've had that. There have been some people who thought I was adopted cuz of how light I am compared to my mom. On the flip side though, people get surprised I'm my mom's daughter cuz they assume we're sisters, I guess cuz she looks younger than she is 😂😂
