Thanks so much for your kind words, I appreciate that you can see that I've shared this tutorial because of my love for the craft. This was meant as a showcase for Dusty Attic Chipboard, to show how well it works with this style of mixed media. When I said that Finnabair inspired this, my meaning was that her 'body of work' was an inspiration, this was not an imitation of one particular project she has done. I actually gleened a lot of the design tips from a number of other artists on youtube that have shared tutorials in this mixed media style. Your positive feedback on my work is much appreciated! xo xo
@katies70811 жыл бұрын
Gabrielle, this is the first video I have watched by you and it is WONDERFUL. I'm not sure why anyone would be upset with your tutorial...Finnabair has a channel with dozens of such tutorials on mixed media (by other artists) and yours is one of the best! Like you, most of them verbally acknowledged Finnabair and then get on with their project. Keep up the great work! I just subscribed to your channel and cannot wait to watch more of your vids!

I am sad to see this too.... I was honoured to be able to take a class from Finnabair.... And although I have been inspired to make 5 canvases since taking her class.... I would never show how to do it on you tube. Maybe you should reconsider having this video up!
@GabriellePollacco11 жыл бұрын
Helen, I've never actually taken a class of Finnabairs, so had no idea that she has put a ban on people sharing projects done in the style that she has pioneered and that is now commonly used by many, many scrapbookers and shared in tutorials. It's not top secret how this is done. I have many followers who like to imitate my style and share what they've learned from me and I take no issue with it, that's why we share and teach, as a matter of fact I'm delighted when people show me their take on some of my projects. this tutorial was done to showcase Dusty Attic Chipboard and how well it works in mixed media. It's sad that a few people are getting so up in arms about this.

What a gorgeous combination of colors! I noticed some areas took the purple really well, is it that those elements were more porous maybe? It's such a great piece!! TFS Gabrielle! :)
@GabriellePollacco10 жыл бұрын
Hi Jules, yes I think that some area's will take on color better than others becaue of their porous quality (for example the lace really absorbed the color well. If you want the color to be darker in some areas, a second coat doesn't hurt. :)

Gabi, people REALLY have to get over themselves. The last original piece of art is on the walls of caves. I told Lisa Gregory that we're all papercrafters for crying out loud. We haven't been commissioned by the friggin Pope to paint a Vatican ceiling. Don't stop doing what you do :) "Haters gonna hate, but I just love, love, love." Teresa Giudice New Jersey Housewives :D
@GabriellePollacco11 жыл бұрын
LOL! You make me smile Paula! (love watching the RHNJ).....I had no idea there is any discussions going on somewhere about this. I think I made a mistake in trying to do a nice thing in acknowledging Finn as my inspiration. I did this because I wanted to acknowledge her 'body of work', being one of the first to work in this style. My design was not in any way an imitation of her Spell book. I have never taken one of her classes. I have no idea what mediums she uses on her projects or have a full comprehension of her process. What I know of this style of mixed media is what I've gleaned from watching countless youtube videos of other artists that have worked in the same mixed media style. I probably should have listed them instead. People who know me, know that I share my tutorials purely for the love of the craft, it makes me happy to see peoples joy when they've tried something new and were successful at it. I've had people copy my projects right down to products used and placement, and I don't mind at all. It's how people learn. Why do we teach if we don't want anyone to use it. ....I don't want to step on her toes in respect to her classes, and I don't think I am. There are loads of video's out there showing this style of mixed media, it's not a top secret. I admire her work but am sad she has taken this stance about others working in the same style she works in. I hope she'll have a change of heart. ....thanks again for your kind support hon! xo xo

Can you please tell me the name of that specific cutting board. I bought one that I thought was similar in a teacher supply store, and the wheel that cuts the paper barely meets the paper. It's just awful!
@GabriellePollacco10 жыл бұрын
Hipretty, so sorry, I only just now saw your comment, the cutter I used is from my local craftstore (Michaels), it's a Fiskar, I find it is good and sharp (you can get replacement blades for it)....but I'm not so sure I'd recommend it because I find that my cuts for cardmaking are not perfection, the cut is off by a tiny bit. But, it works well enough for trimming :)
