Art Journal Page - Places I Remember: Timelapse video of my latest mixed media art project using a variety of techniques. This is an art journal process vdeo showing the making of a new age in my Strathmore Lyrics Journal. Materials include acrylic paints, Caran D'Ache Neo Colors, Rubber stamps and stencils. The page demonstrates a variety of mixed media techniques including stamping, stenciling, collage, masking, and resist.

Oh Rachel, what always thrills me about watching you work on a piece is when I think Oh my goodness that is outstanding ~ you then go on and make it, if that's even possible, I have to ask myself, even better and more amazing, your sense of colour and layout is awesome, the finishing touches start right at the beginning and go on and on until you are ~ done!! Love foam stamps - You have to search high and low to find good ones though, but the size of the Alphas is perfect for journaling :-)

wow! This is a beauty. So much work went into it and all the details you kept adding amazed me. It must have taken a long time to complete. The watercolor crayons are pretty neat. I really liked the way you added the white around the houses and then later added the final stencilling too. The saying is so true. That is so COOL!! I love how you put one house on top of the other so you could do affects around it that was really awesome. I have so much trouble using stencils I always seem to use too runny of liquids or try to get every inch of the stencil and it bleeds under it. Have to work on that. Thank you Rachel. XO

Thanks Jenny. Using a piece of Ranger Cut N Dry Foam really helps with precise stenciling, and I usually put my paint onto a palette, then use the foam to dab into the paint, then dab off the excess before using it on the stencil - Not sure how you apply it, but thought that might help when using liquid mediums :-)
