The masking fluid can and will ruin brushes if you're not careful. Certainly don't use a good brush. I use silicon tips, pipettes or other tools. I have used masking fluid with acrylics. Enjoy using it. Turns out cool I think.

A square rubber cement eraser is ideal for masking fluid. It can handle fragile and troublesome areas that are masked. Plus no easier shards all over or embedding into any paint that is not fully cured.

That was mind-blowing! Now I am pondering if it would work to apply masking fluid on paper, let it dry, then make a gel print. Hmmm....

I do love your commentary as you add and obliterate. Half the time I am screaming 'don't do that' but then you always make it work. It gives me a bit more confidence to cover up the bits I love which I find hard!

Great experiment! Gotta try it with acrylics, too. p.s. Hope that didn't kill your brush! To prevent that, put some soap on your brush bristles before dipping it into the masking fluid.

I’m so glad! ❤️ If I had it to do over again, I’d thin the paints a bit so I can still access the masking fluid lol Or at least I won’t cover it with multiple layers of acrylic 🤗

Hi Jackie, i love to watch your "experimental " videos, they are always encouraging me to be braver and try new ideas so thank you !!! also, can you please send me a link to the blue towel paper that u use, (there are all kind from what i so on the net) we don't have it here, the ones that we have are structured and i don't like the effect they leave. Thank you 💜 Sara

Such a fantastic experiment, with awesome and unique results! I have always used a crepe eraser whenever I remove masking fluid. My fave is Pebeo drawing fluid, as it's blue instead of white, so you're able to see where you put it (unless it's under lots of layers like yours was)! Check out the artist Alison Watt, on her channel she uses masking fluid with acrylics very successfully! Thanks for sharing your incredible talents and your valuable time, Jackie!!

Great experimenting! Masking fluid is really ideal for watercolour. I've used vaseline/water mix as a masking fluid on a gelliplate with acrylic. I wonder if acrylic inks would work better with the masking fluid you are using. 😊😊😊

Hi Jackie, just discovered your channel and loving it!!!! May I ask about your paint set up in your tray? Are they acrylic paints? It looks like tracing paper or baking paper on top of a damp cloth. Is this a good way of keeping your acrylics from drying out ? Many thanks xx

I might be remembering wrong, but I think there is a blue masking fluid that then dries white or clear. That way you can see where you applied it but then it won't affect the colors you use.
@jackieschomburgart10 ай бұрын
I could still see the masking fluid when it was on the surface - it was glossy and stood out from the white paper - I just wasn’t paying attention 😂 I lost track of the layers underneath the acrylic.
