Watched the entire dessert series tonight & your #6 confection will certainly prove the most useful to this mixed media toddler as I am still obtaining basic supplies. It's clear that you invest hours of thought. effort, and personality into your videos! Thanks.

Great thrifty & fun ideas. Re the 'carved' stamps, Cos-Play& theatre folk use Fun Foam for making faux metal armour, helmets, weapons etc. & they add engraving detail into the surfaces the same way. They use a heat gun to make the 'engraving' or indentations permanent; craft heat tools for melting embossing powder should be plenty hot enough, a hardware store version isn't necessary. Just remember, exactly like when you're heat embossing, it's plastic-based too, so proper ventilation & keep the heat tool moving so nothing gets burnt.

Hi Cat, I am always overjoyed to see a new video. I love your stamps, I love your book too. One thing I like about your videos is you share things which are beautiful which we can also share, especially with our nieces. It can be hard to find an activity to engage ages 10 to 60 but this surely fits the bill! It is also inexpensive and simple...almost anyone can give it a try. You are very good at explaining techniques so we can reproduce them. I started watching Mixed Media Morsels and continue to use the techniques and refer to your videos. TSVMFS ( thanks so very much for sharing). Have a blessed Fourth of July.

Hello Cat, I've just got into making my own stamps and stick them onto the bottom of empty individual pudding pots, they are quite shallow, so you can push down from inside the pot and see through which helps with positioning. The 'downside' is you have to eat a lot of tiramisu and trifles ! TFS Pam x

Thanks for sharing the way you incise the pattern! I use carpet tape as adhesive for home-made stamps. It sticks anything, no drying time and it doesn't loosen if you throw the stamp in water to clean paint off of it. (You can dust any exposed adhesive with a little baby powder when you're done. It's sticky!!!!) For washable stamps, I use the 1/4" foam sheets as backing. Stick the shape down, then trim away the excess as close to the shape as you can get. Layering up the thinner foam sheets works well also. As you say, one package of sheets is a lifetime supply so might as well use it!
@karengiannini44006 жыл бұрын
is carpet tape adhesive expensive? Where do you buy it? Thanks.
@robinalcorn51406 жыл бұрын
I bought mine at Home Depot. There are varieties on Amazon and other home improvement stores carry it too. You want the rug-to-floor kind, not the rug-to-carpet kind. It comes in a roll and its VERY sticky. I try to put a piece of non-stick paper over the sticky side to cut it and to make it easier to handle. Once the shape objects are in place just press them in well with something flat. I use baby powder over any adhesive still exposed. It's a bit of a pain to use, but it's instant gratification. Grabs onto weird stuff like rice grains, sticks, heavy lace, twine and non-adhesive foam shapes. Love it for texture stamps.

This was fun! I already knew about drawing on the foam, but it was a great ideas to use the rubber O rings. I have a Brother ScanNCut which I like to use to make my own stencils and that gave me a great idea for some stencil ideas. Haven’t watched for a while, but I always like to check in and see what fun things you’re up to. 😊
@bonniekitt16 жыл бұрын
I just thought of another idea with regards to the fun foam. You could use deep dies like the steel rule dies Sizzix makes to cut shapes out of the foam to make stamps with. I believe Spellbinders also is making those dies as well. Just wanted to mention it.

Hi Cat 🐈, ;) You are so talented and eager to share... thank you. I was thinking that if you painted the burlap several times with acrylic paint it would raise the print and seal the burlap. Then the ink would rest on top of the stamp for a much clearer image.

Hi Cat! Decided to revisit this video today because I’d like to share some with a few friends and family. I’m making a happy mail package for my granddaughter today, and I thought she’ d enjoy some of these. When you made the burlap stamp, did you apply the E6000 glue like you did with the O-rings? I love the idea of using different textures like this to use in my crafting. Thanks for inspiring me on this gloomy winter day.

Hi Cat Did you ever try a punch to get an original shape or would the foam get stuck inside the punch? Thank you for your great inspiration. I learn alot from you always. I am doing the new playing card book with you.I just got a gelli plate so I am watching some of your older videos. So glad they are still available.I always have loved mixed media. Recently decided to start a painted paper book with the excess paint from any acrylic project Thank you do much

Awesome, Sue! So glad your having some creative fun! 😊 I have not used a punch with foam. Sounds like a good experiment - you should give it a try. If it gets stuck, you can most likely remove the piece using tweezers.

I tried making stamps with fun foam and glued them to large recycled jar lids. I did letters, numbers, shapes, simulated stone, etc. and was so excited to use them, but the glue didn't hold. FAIL. I was so disappointed. I'd used the scraps in what I thought were cool designs and very little was wasted ... until they didn't hold. I'll need to retry and use the glue you did. Where did you get it? Thanks for the help!!
@CatHand6 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry you had some issues with your glue, Karen - I did, too. But the E-6000 adhesive works great and dries in just a couple of hours. I got mine at Amazon and I now have some available in my own Amazon shop! 😊 Here’s a link for you: www.amazon.com/shop/cathand

Sometimes I try to find a video I watched months ago but with no luck. I think what is happening is that it is part of Mixed Media Morsels and you don't include a pic of the finished project on the thumbnail. It would be really nice if it was.
