Hi! You're artwork is so very inspiring! I enjoy every single tutorial! ❤ I'm also a full blooded Italian! 🙂My maternal grandfather left Italy to come to Coney Island in Bklyn NY to open a tailor shop, my mom was a seamstress and my aunt created amazing crazy quilts! I was introduced to sewing at a very young age. I agree with you that hand stitching is so relaxing. Even watching you handstitch is relaxing! 😃 Thanks so much for sharing and teaching us your craft! You truly are a master of your art!🙂❤🙋♀️

Hi Kathleen! That’s a great heritage, to have a sewing background.. yes, it not only relaxes, but it connects to a stream of consciousness that is a well of creativity. Thank you so much for watching and letting us know you enjoyed it! 😘♥️

Dear Caterina, thankyou for sharing so many ideas. This was such a fun video!(not that the others aren't!😉) I love the idea of preparing separate pieces wherever inspiration takes you, that you can use later on.......or not. Thankyou kindly for responding to all our questions. I have some artists to follow up and a product to investigate. I'm so grateful for all the consideration you and Don put into your presentations. They have become quite a comprehensive reference for me. Grazie💙Stay safe😘💙xx

Loved watching you stitch and answer questions. I’ve been rescuing vintage linens and cabinet cards for decades for some unnamed projects. At age 67 I think it’s time to get to using them! However, when I saw you tearing into that cabinet card it gave me such a start! I’m getting over myself and have vowed to start using them in my mixed media art. (After I scan them at high resolution! Lol)
@donalddigison72933 жыл бұрын
Funny you said that when Cat tore the card I was thinking some of the viewers would be horrified. 😂
@CaterinaGiglio3 жыл бұрын
I am laughing over your cabinet card comment.. Don said someone is going to be upset over that! 😉 So let me say that I only use original antique ephemera in my work.. I make Copies only for use as transfers. I understand the reluctance, but really.. there are more in the world than we can ever use right? At 68 I understand I am a big rescuer too!! Glad you will be using them in your work! And thank you so much for watching and letting us know you liked it! 😘

My comment is "I've never..." themed! -- I've never thought of sewing paper to fabric, and the idea to coat the paper with gel medium is a great tip. I've never heard of Artemisia Gentileschi nor Ines Seidel and now I'm enjoying/appreciating learning more about them. Thank you for this slow-stitch-slow-chat. And yes, I agree - plastic is indeed a scourge of the earth.

PS. It's interesting to me that Don's faves, Rockwell and Wyeth, are so very different. But I'm reading up now on Wyeth to see if I'm off base. My fave moment in this vid is when you ask Don, "And women?" 😉

I agree...”it’s a visual feast...a mystery for the soul to unravel.” I wrote that down to have before my eyes. Thank you! Now I need your recommendation for a pair of really sharp embroidery scissors...mine is dull and frustrating !!🥵 I looked on Amazon and there must hundreds !! 🥵So, I’m in no hurry, but if you'd care to find a small one that you think is sharp at the point, and put it in your Amazon list, I’d buy that one. If u don't have time...that's ok. (Btw, I HAD to use a $10 off coupon today at the grocery store, so I did not get to try out my new woodies...but I will and let u know in FB.) Chat later. We understand asking our viewers to support our channel may not “sit well” with some. Asking for donations is a way to keep producing these instructional videos. It takes an enormous amount of time, effort and supplies to produce these quality videos. Caterina has a mission to provide inspiration, enlightenment and instruction and we are always looking for ways to keep the channel viable. There is no obligation to support the channel.
