this is THE best mixed voice warm up video i have watched. i haven’t really used my head voice since i got out of high school and don’t sing in choir anymore so it’s weakened more than i noticed, so this is also forcing me to strength that back up as well. thank you so much, i’ll be using this a lot!

Really liked the exercises. Today is my first day trying this vocal exercise, and I have to say, that you are the only vocal coach that includes water breaks; that I really appreciate because my mouth/throat tends to get dry a lot. And I also enjoyed the workout for my voice. Thanks for sharing your expertise and helping myself and the community to improve our singing voices! ❤️

A question and a personal tip for #9: First, the little box suggests moving through ME-AY-AH-AY-EE, but the demo is all on AH. Much easier to move through the different vowels! If I stay with AH all the way, it helps me to let my jaw hang forward quite a bit, like I have an underbite. Otherwise, the transition is bumpy and I can't get through it all on a single breath. (40+ years of classical singing technique getting in the way.)

This one is helpful for me before songs that include my lower break, helps blend it together!

I loved the exercise especially the oo ones. I loved it and it also helped me discover that I can sing high if I just relax and don’t push the sound out of my mouth.

I resolved this by making sure my diaphragm is engaged. I was starting off right but slacking off mid way and up to the end. Too relaxed and I sound like my teenage son’s cracking voice. 😅

I’m the first one to this workout and I want to say how much I love your Chanel and I wanted to know if anyone thinks it’s possible to learn how to sing well in 8/9 months
@roisinnigcrainn77223 жыл бұрын
It's absolutely possible to learn to become a great singer in that amount of time. Practice every day and make sure to do what feels good. There are videos on KZbin that will tell you how to maintain your voice to keep it in good condition. I do recommend getting a proper vocal coach if it's something you're very serious about. Best of luck, you can do it!

I swear I didn't steal #1 from you for my Lesson 1 #6. I think a former teacher had me sing something like this in the 80s and I adapted my version from that. Wonder how many other similar exercises I will come across? A few, I'm sure. The good ones endure. Do appreciate your original takes on a lot of old standards though, and your truly original warm-ups.

(1) Could you let us practice allowing a natural vibrato to arise (VERY important to me)by proper alignment of everything; (2) What exercises should we focus on during our weightlifting/situps/regular workouts to make it more likely that we will turn to our diaphragm to sing and that our diaphragms won't let us down? Just situps? (3) Can you teach us a long explanatory lesson on which muscles to use in the diaphragm--OMG I was told by a NY Met Mezzo that the muscle is over the bladder; then I was told no, no, no, only use the muscles you use when you are pushing and going to poo--If someone would just once and for all explain the muscles--at length because I know it is so hard to grasp which muscles.(4) Are we going off the rails if we use vibrato (or what seems like vibrato) to hit the really high notes in these exercises (''m a high mezzo)? I don't expect answers to each question AT ALL! I'm just sending out ideas that, since they would help me, I figure it would help all the others.
@mistressofuniverses Жыл бұрын
I can’t really offer an answer to all of your questions but I would like to offer some insight into the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a singular muscle that sits below your lungs in the bottom portion of your rib cage. It helps to pump your lungs moving down when you inhale and pushing up when you exhale. One way that you can practice feeling your diaphragm is taking a deep breathe and then quickly pushing it out of your lungs. You’ll kind of feel your core engage as well as your diaphragm. One of the best ways to engage your diaphragm when singing is to breathe into your stomach and then activate your abdominal muscles as you breathe, pushing air out while not allowing your core to move. Putting a hand on your stomach can help you feel as the muscles engage and work and will help you have more dynamic range and better breath control. Doing this consistently and practicing breathing while engaging your diaphragm will help you learn to utilize your diaphragm more when you’re singing. Core strengthening exercises are also helpful, especially if you make sure that you are using proper breathing techniques throughout them. As for that NY Met Mezzo, I have no clue why they told you that. The diaphragm is technically above your bladder but it’s also above your stomach and small intestines and is not inherently linked to that system. I know it’s a year since you posted this but I hope that this helps you (or someone else) out.
