Hello Austin, it seems like you have the screen view for your tracks really large and then are able to access all the plug ins and tools you want to do. I can't find the same screen view as you. There might be something you need to check besides advanced editing thats giving you trouble. If you want an alternative I'd chop by hand by playing the beat and doing command + T when you want to make a chop, It won't be as exact but sometimes that what u want.

This was a great tutorial. I would love more tutorials of this type of construction on sampling. It would be easier to view if you could zoom in on what you're doing just because the screen resolution is so high (trying not to complain) but it would be easier to make out some things your doing. Either you have logic pro 9 or you need to go into preferences and try and see if something to do with the file tab is unchecked.

yo i have a question about flex time rhythmic...the first time i tried it i used the bpm counter and it gave me the bpm and was able to loop it perfectly. now im trying to sample another song but the bpm counter wont work so i tried an online bpm counter and its obviously not always gonna be as accurate but i tried it anyways. now i chose the bpm that i got from the counter (68) and chose flex time and region flex time rhythmic but what's different now is there is not as many transients as there was the first time i sampled....everytime i try and move a transient or even turn on flex time, the audio will play and then the audio will cut off for a little bit, play again and then cut off again...what am i doing wrong? im thinking its the bpm but still its pretty frustrating. all i want to do is sample something smh lol

Hey, I followed all of your steps, but for some reason I'm not getting the option to Slice at Flex markers. I have the option to Slice a transient markers, split by locators, reset manual flex edits, and reset all flex edits, but no option to Slice at Flex markers. Any idea why this is?

the only thing i can think of is that you might need to make a cut on the region in flex mode then right click and see if you can make a flex marker cut. Hope that helps bro

Right after you drag them in it should ask if u want to assign them to only one key or not. If you're not seeing that then you can painstakingly go in the edit menu on the exs24 and manually change the endpoint keys on each sample to be only for one exclusive note on the piano roll. That way sucks though.

Nice vid. Let's say I wanted to be able to use either a keyboard shortcut or a knob on my midi keyboard to adjust the start and end points of my sample chops, so I can avoid all that clicking. Do you know of any way to do this? I'm pretty sure its not possible, but I have been trying to figure out a way or a similar work around.

maybe, theres something called controller assignments in lpx, they should be in the top left kinda where the preferences are. the parameters will probably be called start and end loop. what might be tricky is logic mistaking this mpc like sample loop for just a set loop for your whole track

MixedByTheAcademy Right. Yeah I looked into this and there was no way to map those controls to a MIDI controller in the controller assignments. I really wish that Apple would update the EXS24 a bit. There are so many great things about it, and maybe i"m the only one, because nobody that uses the EXS24 seems to care that this feature isn't available, but if I could use a midi controller to edit my sample chops, it would change the experience and make for a much more efficient workflow. It would need to imitate Maschine or the MPC styles of chopping, but what's wrong with that? I think it would bring more users to Logic for sure. Thanks for the response!

Hey man i tried to sample a few songs and i usually try to just right click and chop at transient markers in flex mode rhythmic. i copy your settings in ESX2 and my samples still sound choppy and a fucked up. should i try manually chopping or is it something I'm missing... ? Thanks man!

thats weird. if its choppy like too abrupt, it should be fixed with the release, if its too long id use the enveloper plugin under the dynamics section. hope that sorts it out

Okay i tried the enveloper plugin. it didn't work unfortunately, do you think it could be the size of my chopped samples? when i use the rhythmic flex mode it chops it at three points and that leads me to believe that my chops are actually not long enough. i was trying to sample a Breezin- George Benson. maybe its just not a good song? i need help lmao

Ohhhh, you have to chop the transient higher up on the transient line. If you chop too low u end up making three chops and they will all be to the next nearest transients around where u chopped. It will give you unwanted chops and short samples.

Logic's bpm counter kinda sucks, I'd just use like this website www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm to tap and find it manually. That works 99.99% of the time. Theres another way I've done it before and might make a vid on it.

hmm I'm really not sure about that. Id try starting a new project and seeing if its just in that project. There'd be a work around it'd just be a pain in the ass. Id slice at flex markers and then delete the samples you didn't need and extend the really short starts to the samples you want til it works for you. Not saying you should go through all that hell tho
