I’ve always felt a spiritual pull into getting locs. I’ve started three times only lasting a month in the process because every time i try to start, I kept receiving discouragement from my ego, few family members and worrying about the feedback from the outside world instead of listening to my inside world😔(because deep down I REALLY want to loc my hair). Locs are more than just a hairstyle. You can really discover many aspects of self you were never aware of, when considering or in the process of forming your own locs. Awesome video btw, and your locs are beautiful too💜✨

I’ve had them before and I cut them when they were in a ponytail length. As soon as I cut them I knew I had made a huge mistake, It’s been 2 months now with the new ones. I couldn’t help it! I had to restart them again because that’s how much I love dreadlocks and I’m happy this is my second intent coz now I really know and confident that I love them and I’m willing to keep these ones. I’m happy that I got the courage to restart them.

@@theofficalkey2312 I started my locs on 11/6/2020. I wanted to wear my fro at least 4 times. But, I kept strong. My 1st wash was amazing. I did a retwist with it. I am going to wash my hair Xmas eve and just let it be. I’ll retwist maybe 2 weeks after that. I’ve learned to trust the process and just let my babies just do what they want to do.

When you put a weave in or your braids and is hard to wash your hair and then on top of that you have to take it all out and I'm sick of it too I've been natural for like 16 years now and I love my natural hair I just hate putting oils in it I don't mind washing it I'm just really sick of it and I know hair sheds and I get it all over my back in my arms that's why I stay in the bathroom and I just have to take a bath and wash it all all I hate to have to part my hair and put the oils like on your scalp and some oil mean your scalp not your hair and I am really sick of being natural right now and I don't want no relaxer or no perm or no Brazilian blowout I don't want any of that stuff in my hair and I you have not put in my hair years ago but they didn't stay

7 months into my lock journey, and I wanted to do this for 25 yrs. I finally did it. And I feel that the shackles are off: No more perms or weaves in order to be accepted white society . Going natural, I feel I’ve finally accepted my beauty from inside and out. My white boyfriend likes the weaves. So I told him, I’ll make an appointment, and he can get one 😂 I love me and my locks. To bad it took 50 yes. to finally free myself.

I started my locs after watching your original starter locs video. Its been a little over two months and I am so happy I did it. I love myself more than ever before and it is so beautiful to finally love and accept my hair and myself for just the way it is. This process has assisted in huge ways in my healing, especially regarding my view of self and others. My crown is growing faster than ever before and I don't even care (the way I used to be obsessed with length). I'm currently trying to find the sweet spot for my retwists because my hair texture is similar to yours. One week out and I have a fro lol. But I'm learning to love it. Thanks so much for your insight! Don't wait any longer if yall are thinking of locing. It the best decision I ever made for my hair.

I've been going through so many life changes over the last 1.5 years. From getting married, losing friends, gaining new friends, and learning where to placed family members in my life. On Feb 22, 2024, I decided to two-strand my hair into mini twist. I planned to keep them up for a month to let my hair breathe. As the days went by, I really started to like the look of my hair as the twist go older and how carefree my hair style was and easy to manage. So, I decided to let them loc on their own. I always knew I would loc my hair, but I planned to do it when I had my first child. But my spirit is so at peace and content something called for me to just do it! Its even more special that I loced them myself. My husband has had locs for 7years and he stated that you go through a spiritual journey with having locs just like you mentioned! I am excited for this journey for myself to experience. Thank you for sharing and your hair is absolutely gorgeous!

5 years ago I used to see your photos on Pinterest. I felt like you're sooo relatable and it was right at the beginning of my spiritual journey as a lightworker. I'd been having dreams getting locs installed so I went on to get faux locs. Then one day I was soothing my 6month old, about 2 years after putting your photo on my intention board, I felt so unprotected, a lot of chaos was going on. I put her down for a nap and I went into the bathroom and cut all my hair with a pair of scissors. My sister, who's also grown into her gifts, woke up with a dream from our great grandma scolding me asking why I cut my hair when they'd been telling me to grow locs. I had had them grown long ago before that, so I had them stored away. I tied up my hair to bantu knots, small ones, woke up and installed them. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago I've been going through a spiritual awakening, an intense one. I woke up and wanted to cut my hair and dye it ash blonde. The same day I went out with my now 3yo daughter to get some house supplies, I was in tears on the way, it was raining, so I started speaking to my ancestors while driving. I couldn't get the supplies anywhere, my crown looked ravaged. I pulled up to this kiosk, got my baby out, got everything there. Went into the car and just sat for a moment when a gentleman knocked on my window, he says "I love your locs, if you're ever looking for someone to help maintain them please come to my salon" he said it pointing at his place. I told him I'd just been putting off cutting them moments ago. Fast forward today I'm knee deep in turmoil, lost a noticeable amount of weight, it's raining the samw amount as last time, I think to myself hey I wanna grow some pot plants, I wanna put my energy into nature again I've been indoors for weeks now. Then I scroll through stories and there you are planting. I'm thinking yes!! Her again! Binged on your videos, restoring my crown as we speak. Thank you. Thank you soo much for always being my good pivot. Always. You're always a good sign to me some how. Thank you. Just. Thank you

I have an appt to start my locs a week from now…………so nervous, I don’t wanna screw it up (in maintenance), but so excited to not “have to have” faux locs in to feel like myself or fight every section of my loose hair every day. More than anything I’m ready to embrace my natural hair in all its untamed glory, so I can focus my energies, *finaly* , on better things. This video was JUST what I needed to confirm that this is the right choice. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏽💗

Omg!!! I’m sooo on the fence😩😩😩 I feel like Imma miss my curls and loose hair one day and gonna have to cut them off just to start over… and my hair is already long so it would be devastating 😣 Edited: 10months later after initially making this comment, I have my loc consultation scheduled and feeling more confident to make the leap after seeing West Indies Ray comb her locs out now! She’s inspired to go ahead and do it and it’s comforting to know that it’s not such a permanent choice after all!❤

I am researching the Loc journey and which one best suits me. I am liking the microlocks and once I get back home from my holiday at my moms in Jamaica, I will see which locs best suit my hair type. I have definitely decided that my journey from natural hair, moving to locs is definitely a spiritual blessing to owning and embracing my beautiful blackness. We have been made to feel ashamed of natural hair, and allowed the system to think, straight hair makes us more acceptable to society. Well, I have always loved my blackness, but was made to feel unworthy in school etc. Now I’m grown and finding my true identity in my beautiful skin, part of that was when I went natural. Now I’m taking it a step further and going into locs. Super encouraged and inspired as I embark upon this journey. Thanks 🙏🏾

Number 7 I think or 8 you said you’re protesting Eurocentric standards and beauty norms in your sleep. That!! That right there wow. That really moved me. Black women are so beautiful and I believe black women with locs are truly goddesses. They embody so much power and also self discipline. The divine feminine they are the personification of that. I’m getting my hair done as soon as I can. I’m a senior in highschool and I’m going to a PWI (for college) I’m in the honors program and I live in the south. In my interview my hair was flat ironed and I was wearing a blazer. Very “professional” but I’m feeling a shift. I’m feeling like my spirit guides just really want me to be happy with who I am naturally. I was on edge about getting my hair locked because I don’t want to lose any opportunities because of my hair. But the people that would hold me back because my hair, are not the type of people I want to have opportunities from in the first place.

Lovely locs, glad youre enjoying the journey! I had locs for 7 yrs but strange enough it wasnt the best experience for me personally. However when i started embracing my silver mane at the age of 34, which i hid from the world since i was 13... THAT was and continues to be a very liberating experience! So i totally feel u on that. Everyone’s journey to liberation is different but yet so lovely to hear about 🤗🤗 good luck to all u ladies embracing naturalness in all forms!

Adelia, I'm locking my hair in December. I started heading in my 20s and have been coloring it since. I haven't colored my hair in over a year due to covid, and have been in a wig. I am struggling with whether to loc then with all this white or not

@@meshella76 I totally understand how you feel. What I will say is this, reveal your greys only when YOU are ready. Once you are ready, nothing or no one’s opinions will matter. It is challenging I wont lie, because i get mixed comments about my greys, some love it and others preferred me when I had black hair. In my mind i am embracing it so i dont care about the opinions. But do it when you are ready. When you feel a sense of peace when you think about, and not anxiety or a little fear… then you will know that it is time. Also, be present. I dont know if when I reach 40 i will change my mind and dye it again, but presently im cool with it.

Lol. I would never be ready! Lol...I guess it's about time to embrace the gray (even though people will think I'm my little one's grandma🤣). My hair grows fast, so even if I color it, within days, you see white at the root. That's just too much. I have till December to decide. That's when I will be staying my loc journey. I'm nervous and excited, both at the same time! Is that all of your hair in the profile pic? It's hard to tell...

@@meshella76 i understand, awww You wont look like her grandma, Im sure you have a personality which will indicate that youre her proud mama! My hair at the moment is 80percent white, it is presently in the awkward stage since I cut it recently. Im wearing silver extensions in the photo. Knotless braid method. Thats the only thing I do when I want to switch it up a bit. Cant wear weaves or wigs since my scalp needs to breathe. Go on Pinterest and look up silver locs. You’ll be inspired by the women in those photos. Their grey locs look beautiful. I also wore headbands during my transition phase to cover the grey growth and i gradually trimmed the dyed hair off until i was comfortable to expose the full look.
