Hi Everyone! It’s been a while! How are you? Today I am sharing with you a new fact, a new video where it’s possible to actually challenge Gold from Gold, Silver and Crystal. Gold is actually challengeable and I’m gonna explain to you how: - Game Freak have hided it well. As many people know, there’s a trainer in Kanto, especially in Viridian City where it’s possible to challenge a trainer called CAL once per day. That trainer is just a regular NPC in which he challenge you with 3 fully evolved Starter. He apparently is the strongest trainer of the game based of what the woman from the house saying quotes: «You can battle the best of the best right downstairs.» She’s actually talking to a trainer that is the very best. I believe that woman isn’t actually mentionning CAL because the trainer has only 3 fully evolved Starter with level 50. Someone else just a bit higher is mentionning Red, which they know who he was. Red is actually the strongest since his pokemon level are much Higher. So how is this possible? It’s pretty simple: - Actually, if you are using the Mystery Gift between two real Game Boy color, in which I used, you can received Mystery Gift from the other player! However there’s not only that, but you can actually challenge that player in Viridian City house. Trainer CAL will be replaced by the other player that has given you the mystery gift. In my case, I used the protagonist from Pokemon Gold and finished the game. - CAL is just kinda a placeholders if you do not use the Mystery Gift, however, if you do use it, then the trainer that you will face, is the trainer from the other player. In which he truly is the best of the best. Gold will be challenged as a regular NPC, just like Red. His team depend on the team you have used from the other version! ENJOY!

The thing I most like about this combat is the team composition of Gold. If you think about it, it's kind of logical. Excluding Cyndaquil as his starter, everyone else is a "free" pokemon. Togetic is the egg. Gyarados is the sold magikarp. Ho-oh is kind of free because of Masterball and maybe because every MC in the video game series seems to have an affinity with a specific legendary. Umbreon is Bill's Eevee. And Sodowoodo is the "strange tree" blocking your way to Morty.

@Desir Family yeah, I know... That's why the starter for me is in a different pool. For the others you have a choice to pick em up or not, in any shape or form. But the starter is a must to start. Its more like a forced pokemon.

If the team is modeled after Gold in a sense, then this is correct. The Mystery Gift thing is known to those who used it. Years ago a friend of mine & I did that, & I made the Viridian City discovery as well. I made sure that any time we did Mystery Gift, my team was my strongest team for him to battle. I don't remember if it registered nicknames though. I don't think it did.

Why everyone act so surprised and refer to this as "Superboss" or use the word "hidden". This was no hidden at all. It was a widely known feature of GB color (IR) and even as 10yo we knew we could battle each other through Mystery Gift on Gen2, without the need of using a Link cable. It's ok if people found about it even all these years later, but don't spread it as "Hidden new superboss fact" it just triggers the game to battle a friend with his/her respective team regardless of what name they chose for the protagonist in GSC.

Holy smoke. As a Gen 1 veteran who played this for many years since release, I didn't know a second, even harder Superboss exist. But the levels, he's just as hard as how Red became in the remake versions! Kind of sucks you need two linked Game Boy Colors and game copies for that to even work, so Red is already fine enough.

Mystery gift also works with the 3DS ports of GSC so you can experience this again (It's also a way to have a full lvl 100 blissey team for ez level up on the go)

After I saw Togetic (Togebo) and Sudowoodo (Sudobo), I was expecting you to use his team from Pokemon Adventures It was fitting for you to have Togetic, Sudowoodo, and Typhlosion (Exbo) in his team, but the other three were not. He has a Sunflora (Sunbo), Politoed (Polibo), and Ambipom (Aibo). It does! I tried and worked to trade with a friend. Do not forget 3DS has IR port too! So make sure to keep both 3DSes close while using mystery gift (not too close tho and do not move while trading).
