I was born in Halifax 1972, my first house was in Mixenden. I still have a huge family in Mixenden. I moved to Ireland when I was ten and have been back to Mixenden a few times since then. Miss the beautiful views and I used to swim in the reservoir.

That was the Mansion where the mill owner lived It was called both Cedar Grove and Seed Hill Grove, depending on the date. The name change occurred about the turn of the century and the house didn't survive much longer than that. I run a facebook page called History of Mixenden if you go on it and look at the photo albums you will find photos and info on this place Danny

@@dannyBtech The mansion was demolished in 1930, ue to subsidence under it's foundations which was caused by the many underground springs that run down to the Hebble Brook. I remember the late Alan Slingsby telling me that he was ten years old when the mansion was demolished. There were two large gates to the mansion, the main one was at the bottom, opposite the Crown & Anchor public house. The other gate was at the top adjacent to the bottom of Seed Hill Terrace, it was the entrance to the stables. I live on Seed Hill Terrace and there is a spring running beneath my cellar, when there is heavy rain the water comes up through the cellars flagstones. It was because of the many natural springs at Mixenden that the reservoir was built here.
