I haven’t rotocasted anything lately. I’ve been pressure casting clear resin for the last few months. I posted all of that to Instagram, but I plan on switching back to KZbin soon.

I made a retro ray gun that's very round close to your egg shape. I made a closed mold just like yours. And I'm having issues with dimples on the resin cast? They are sunken in? Did you have this issue too? I used both smooth cast 300 and Aluminite clear epoxy.

is your resin fresh? What resin are you using?

Your problem is air bubbles behind the surface of your mold. When the resin or epoxy heats up, it causes the air trapped in the mold to expand, pushing out the mold and making dimples in the casting. Be sure and de-air your rubber before pouring on your master. If you don't have a vacuum chamber, mix the rubber carefully, trying not to introduce air into it and then when pouring, pour slowly in a thin stream which will help lessen the air trapped. Only pour from one spot in your mold box and let the rubber crawl over your master.
