Enjoyed the video mate because some kit you got I'm seeing for first time. Fancy coming do some on our yard paid fortune 2 years ago and it's already starting to disintegrate!

Nice little job done, just a few more loads and the barn will be done as well lol. The pan mixer is definitely quicker than a little mixer, always thought a pan mixer would rather handy! Mixed way too much concrete in a little mixer 🙈

Saves a lot of shovelling. It’s one of the harder jobs, but I do find it really satisfying tamping and levelling.

Why didn't you lift the pallet with the tractor,so you don't break your back lifting those concrete bags ?

Suggestion for next time: cut the tops of the timber supports and easier tamp the concrete to finish
@randommaniac2453 жыл бұрын
Good tip,also in such a thin layer,finer gravel would be much easier to work with.

That handler was first kind Contractor by me had and I watched him stack bales its funny really because I ended up working along side him when we had big job on like spud planting we sub contracted him and he would bring his handler to fill one the planters.

Look as though dad had the best job! That looks a handy little mixer- how much does, or can it mix at a time?
@CowfarmerDan4 жыл бұрын
I think we once worked it out as 1/3 m3

Great job 👍 why not concrete whole floor a lot easier for cleaning out If it's for money fair enough if it to let excess water out not sure it makes much difference I have one bay concrete and other stone both about the same but do dig holes in the not concrete one which we have to refill That mixer looks good How much does it hold? Does it mix well??
@CowfarmerDan4 жыл бұрын
We find the stone floors better for calving cows as they get better grip if they are a bit unsteady with milk fever.
@CowfarmerDan4 жыл бұрын
We think it holds 1/3 m3 and produces a great mix, we leave it running while travelling between filling and emptying and it's ready when you get there.

Had I know you were going to do some cncreting young man I would have sent you a litre of Super plasticizer down to add to the mix. It would have reduced your water content by up to 50% and made better quality concrete too! Good video young man!

We had cup drinkers in our stock sheds, less to get knocked about and taking up minimum space. The cows were quite happy to drink the water as it poured in and it was really easy to drain when fouled, worked well with sheep too with a step up.
@nicklewis14754 жыл бұрын
More water you put with cement the quicker it cures. Never start watering down ready-mixed on a hot day. 6m3 later (by hand!) I discovered that.... but I lived, only just....
@nicklewis14754 жыл бұрын
@@johncooper2245 the water evaporates, leaving the exact same amount of cement that was in the mix to start with. Water applied once the curing has started will speed the process...

Just a comment Dan, as somebody who worked and managed cow units 32 years- would it have been better to have built a more stable sitting for the trough rather than 2 blocks? Cows rubbing on the trough or it getting knocked can easily be a trough dislodged and running water? I got fed up with rats making homes under troughs like that, so cemented a few blocks on a base like that, filled it in with concrete- more stable and no rat accessibility under them.
