Dude was nervous but big respect to him for getting up there and powering through. Presenting in front of a room full of silent people is difficult. Especially when you spend most of your day with headphones on lol

All these people saying it was too much talking and he's not showing enough examples... maybe this talk is not for you. For people who have been doing this for a while, this talk is gold. If you're reading this Joey, thanks!

The dudes a bad ass. His mixes sound great. Thank you for taking the time to do this . People focused on his public speaking skills are missing the point. By profession he's a listener, not a public speaker and he did fine anyway. Thanks again

Awesome class, enjoyed listening to words, knowledge and advice..years ago I used to switch off and think wtf if people started giving me “separate your track with colours” etc...past few years i’ve realized how important these things you think are nerdy or whatever...I Would’ve more than happily watched the whole thing without one sound snippet. Awesome job

Great talk, thank you very much! That snare reverb trick and also the subtle 808 parallel distortion were both gold. Most importantly above all else is the finished track sounds simultaneously fresh and nasty.

I'm saying this with utmost respect, but when your topic is music, you need to be playing the music and not just talk about it. The talk was very informative and I enjoyed it, and I knew most of the plugins myself and own then, so I know what was being talked about, but more musical examples would be needed. Words are not always enough when it comes to music, especially when you can play it. Saying this with respect. I'm an audio engineer and give DAW tuition, too, and have done a lot of teaching, so these are something I've had to think about.

He seems very nervous. Maybe he's just really shy and self conscious of his mix or something. I feel you, but this shit is still valuable, at the very least just to have a reference what the pros are doing and how they do it. Let's not forget it's free

Yeah, I agree with the OP, and this guys public speaking skills are horrible. Also, loading a bunch of plugins that you might not use is great if you have a computer to handle it. His "momentum killers" are not even an option in most studios.
@Fluxwithit
@Fluxwithit 6 жыл бұрын
Seon Flux if your studio computer can't handle a basic plug in chain then it might be time for an upgrade if you are dealing with paying clients . As for playing more examples... let's remember that the acoustics of that room are a major limitation in an environment like this... what good does it do when the examples will all sound like washed out garbage (and that wouldn't be his fault). I rather listen to the concepts and apply them in practice to better understand... if it was a more intimate setting I'd agree.
@seonflux3414
@seonflux3414 6 жыл бұрын
loading over 30 channels with plugins is not a basic plugin chain. You young kids are spoiled as shit thinking that having an EQ, compressor, and whatever else you believe to be "Basic" on every channel is ridiculous. My computer can handle it, that doesn't mean that it is normal practice to do so, cuz what's gonna happen if you get a gig in a studio running an old box? You're gonna go and get your own box from your studio? I'm sorry, but that piece of advice is absolute horse shit. If putting a plugin on disrupts your process so much, the problem lays in your process, not the computer. Go watch stuart white's psychedelic mixing and layering effects. Bouncing effects is a normal part of mixing. One day, when you get a chance to mix an orchestra on 64 channels you will understand what I mean.

The way this masterclass has been edited, could use a revision - it is a drag, at times not being able to get a visual, of the things he is demonstrating - if you want to have a visual of him in focus, you could have used a box with him in the top corner. Great class besides that!!!
