Do you guys enjoy watching the process more organically like this rather than me explaining an already done mix? Thanks for watching! 🤘

A deeper look into the process is great! Your tutorials have been great so far.

I know this might not help but I enjoy both! You’ve found like the perfect middle between breaking each step down a little bit, but also giving the big picture “organically” in each step. The organic approach lets us know you know what you’re talking about, which definitely helps. I’ve followed through your videos and they have MASSIVELY improved my mixes beyond what I thought was possible. I enjoy the style of this video very much. One of the only things I’d say would help me personally is it seems like (and I could be wrong) that you do a backward approach with the final busses, working your way back to the more granular first buses in your chain. I like moving in a forward approach, like the first bus I send the main clean vocals to, the steam vocals to, and then where THOSE buses go to next, etc etc. but that could just be me. It takes a second to figure out we’re your at in your chain, but I just pause the video and analyze what’s going on lol. Once again, I love the videos and the hello your providing to bedroom “engineers” like myself 😊🙏

Awesome video! Perhaps the reason the periphery vocals cut through in the lower mids more is I’m pretty sure nolly used buster odeholms Saturn trick on the low mids (250-600ish) Really helps the presence in that region!

Wow this is such a good start to finish breakdown! Lot's of notes to take. Have you every tried using Pro-Q's automatic EQ matching to speed things up? or do you find it's best to do it manually :)

I find that works well for bass and guitar, not so much for vocals. Since it's so dynamic and certain notes make certain frequencies stand out, I prefer to do it by ear 🙂

That Gullfoss on the clean vocals was a great tip, it sounds awesome!

The bit at 0:03 is just the chorus from zagreus, if i follow all these steps will any clean vox i mix automatically sound like spencer sotelo>??>? LMAO

man, you got to admit that periphery is super well produce and it's okay to use it as a base for any project.

Great video! What are you using for your vocal delays sends? I don't think you showed it in the video?
@MOMetalProductions
@MOMetalProductions Жыл бұрын
I am using EchoBoy by Soundtoys 🙂 The regular delay is an 1/8 note and the throw is 1/4 ping pong delay into a reverb.

@@MOMetalProductions pretty awesome ! I started using ADPTR after I saw your video about it, and my Mix level went up a lot!!! Frequencies are more competitive with the reference. This approach of working on isolated vocals is brilliant!!! Please continue to do more, you are by far the most honest of the channels that talk about Modern Metal Mixing

For my ears the vocal sounds a bit… maybe lisp-y? The S sounds are kinda muffled IMO, kinda like it has a tad bit too much de-essing? Just my opinion though.

Too processed, that's not what rock is about, it's about a sound as natural as possible, But the more the better the less processing is needed in my opinion

@@heartherainsing "modern" can also mean rawness, it depends on the artist which style of mixing prefers and can stay as high PS: just told me we are not gonna hear a bunch of autotune in rock music, just like in trap music.
