Great info here. Love watching vids about how others approach certain types of vocal/guitar/drum/bass/whatever. The day you stop learning is the day you may as well be dead. At that point you aren't growing. Ya know? Thats the way I look at it anyway. Anyway, I appreciate you and your willingness to share. 🤘

I also use Reaper and mix metal and synthwave music both. You have a really good channel i subbed the other day. What kind of guitar do you play? and what pickups do you use? I am using a Schecter with EmgHz humbuckers. I am going to try your setup you made here soon. I do not have a decent old school metal setup yet. Thanks for the links to the IR files and Amp sim plugins too, I did not now about some of these. I took the Mix your first Metal song course in Reaper from Chernobyl studios , it was pretty good but he uses all different stuff than i have. I have Bias FX2 and Archetype Nolly for paid stuff... oh check out T de-esser by Techivation, it is new and free

@@resington thanks for all the awesome videos. I tried your master chain again, I disabled the 2nd compressor and only using the Xcomp one.. and disabled that limiter with the -10 threshold. and only left the master limiter on. then rendered again and it sounds really good and at around -10 lufs which is perfect. I like this master chain of yours because it allows me to master and mix live streaming and it has a good old school sound, the song i made sounds like Death's album Sound of Preserverance.

I love the Reaper videos. That's a LOT of compression on the vocals. I guess with growly vocals there isn't much dynamic range so you can crush them like that. I go about as far as -10db and ride that make-up gain. Mind you, I also have four reverbs on each vocal. 😝
@resington2 жыл бұрын
Crush the vox dude. Best way especially for fast parts words can get lost if not crushed.

nice dude, I`d like to ask what pickups do you use when soloing? I mean my main guitar has a single coil in the neck position, so that`s what I use for solo but it sounds good only on first 3 strings and only starting from 10-th fret or so. If I go lower the tone is very nasal, do you think It`s all because it`s single? Or should some solos be played on bridge? I also heard fast solos should be played on neck and slow on bridge, what do you think?
@resington2 жыл бұрын
All depends. For singles you get more Highs and string cherp. Try more low mids maybe cut more treble and see how that works.

Question, I tried using Aural Verb. I can't hear any sound coming from my system when it's enabled. I can hear about a split second of sound before it drops out completely every time I hit play. The problem goes away whenever I disable the VST. What could be happening here? EDIT: Some presets work fine BUT some like the Large Plate and Small Plate cause the issue.
