So I am gonna be that guy I am only 2 years into duck hunting and I have to cheaper calls as I am still learning and I cannot for life for me to make my calls sound anything like the other guys so I am assuming calls make a difference single Reed double Reed vs wood and poly and price any information on this would be appreciated and I notice you move your lower jaw alot and I wasn't taught that way and your videos help out alot

I never thought I could blow a goose call i would just do a honk once in a while. Now I can do clucks, moans, honks and double clucks and honks to. And with a goose call you need voice inflection and I could never figure it out but now I got it to a habit to use voice. Practice, practice, practice. I know this was a duck call video but I just thought I could relate, cause now I need to work on my duck call

Excellent instruction guys. Yes, calling game (ducks) is like playing a musical wind instrument. Accomplished wind instrument musicians already have the basics of proper air flow, diaphragm usage, sealing the lips and embouchure, and tongue placement and execution. One correction to your presentation comparison, however, (as a trumpet performance major, performer, teacher, and professional musician,) proper brass playing, as in duck calling should NOT INCLUDE puffing one’s cheeks. (an exception…one of the very few accomplished trumpet players that did puff his cheeks was Dizzy Gelespie. There are hundreds of excellent video examples of proper trumpet embouchure technique…Rafael Mendez, Adolph Herseth, Maurice Andrae, Doc Severinson…Google Doc Severinson/Tonight Show Band/McArthur Park as a perfect example of air flow and embouchure parodical). Proper instruction and execution of playing trumpet calls for the performer to keep the cheek corners snug and relatively firm against the outsides of the molar teeth. Duck calling, likewise, just not near as strongly. Allowing air into the cheeks in brass playing, as in duck calling, results in loss of control. Performing musicians typically make, or could make, excellent duck callers because of those already learned physical characteristics and the ability to imitate sound. Just wanted to share this observation with your viewers, and point this out to clarify your presentation a bit…. Again your video presentations are excellent and informative.
