This is the first time i've seen someone properly explain how to access and use bus 3 and 4. Thanks for this man :)

Eureka! This is exactly how i make full tracks on the sp404 ... it.s my dawless recorder like an old tascam. From there i can refine each stem, have multiple copies of similar stems with different fx and settings. Also using mute groups and the new perfect loop slicer with it set to 32 bars. (Gotta have the right bpm!) U can play it live, add busses use mutes etc, but u can also record full tracks by dropping the loops into pattern sequencer on the first note of a 32 bar pattern and pattern chain them into a complete song record to pad and then u can master it.... this machine is so versatile. (If it converted tracks to mp3 and had a bigger evelope i wouldn.t even open my laptop 🎉) top vid ty😊

I use this same technique, but I record playing instruments (I’m a multi instrumentalist) directly into the SP404, making it the center of my little home studio. Once you get used to it it’s a very quick and fun way to multitrack. Of course I can’t do side chaining, or mastering effects, but you can do all the basics of a track recording right into it. Great video.

Likewise, in a way. It's a super useful swiss army knife of a gadget. It can take line level, mic level (dynamic), or instrument level inputs. It's an audio interface for your pc, your ipad, or your phone. You have 16 projects with 160 samples/project. I will tell you, as a collector of sound, what I like best is to poke around in everything that I've sampled. The serendipity is really realy fun.

Can you play live and do transitions over different songs with this performance setup? Trying to avoid Dj Mode ir order to put fxs over single stems

Wow, such a powerful way to use the SP, thank you! Do you know if these shortcuts apply for the MKI as well or just the MKII?
@Chris_Laps11 күн бұрын
I’m not sure how long the max sample length is for the earlier 404 versions, but aside from that I would assume this would work just as well for those, though I think they may have less effects busses.

What kinda usb-c cable are you using to connect it to your computer? Mine isnt powering the SP..
@Chris_Laps7 күн бұрын
I think the cable has to be USB-C on both ends to power the SP

i looooove my sp, my channel is gerbil hamster records if you are curious of the stuff i do with it, but yeah i never use pattern.... mostly cause i dont know how, but also because i kinda think it would be a boring live set if i just .... made a track in a box, instead of doing crazy shizzz haha

Allow me to rain a bit on your (and the SP 404 mk2's) parade. FX settings on the SP404 mk2 are stored G L O B A L (< dumbest design decision ever). Result per project, or bank, you lose all your FX settings while these are more or less defining the sound. As I said dumbest decision ever. Result, pen and paper....setting FX3 and FX4....and sometimes even FX1 and FX2 neatly written down....and restoring them for each project or bank (depending how I use my SP.) A "store FX settings automatically per project or per bank?" setting would improve the usefullness of the SP404 mk2 by a factor 4. Roland, get your S..T together. And yes, I know you can resample with effects.....but reverb tails spin around the loop (and a setting "resample first or second loop of the sample" is also missing 😂).
@HIFI19659 күн бұрын
I agree. But on the MK2, you can at least save your defaults. Other than performance EFX, the 404-way (if there is such a thing) is to bake the EFX in with resample. As for the tail, I resample two times through the loop, and then set the loop point to the middle of the loop. A wee bit of math, but not too hard, and easy once you get the hang.
