I think this can apply to all "art". We can spent too much time pondering on writing music/songs etc and never get anything finished. Finish something and move to next thing. One does not create one (Mona Lisa) perfect thing in lifetime. One perfect book, one perfect painting, one perfect song, one perfect take.

Mixing is about evolving thru time, so also about perspective. But if you don't have an assistant like the guys you use as example; so usually using time for prepare the session before you start "mixing" is part of this. Also using templates and revisiting this template trough time is absolutist important.

Is your mixing breakthrough course good for someone mixing RnB,HipHop and Afro beat music? I have learned a lot from your KZbin videos already. I’m a self taught mix engineer.

Yes absolutely! We have hip hop examples in the courses. They are really made for all genres. But to help drive that home we have dedicated sessions in each major genre. -Justin

there is a big difference between mixing your original songs and the songs of others, be careful with that, I have mixed over a thousand songs with success and confidence from other artists , but I have not yet finished any original with the same confidence.😅

Awesome to hear Dylan! Hope to see more of you around the channel. Very best, Justin
The more songs you mix, the less time you spend mixing. More songs under your belt, means more experience and understanding where there's a problem and knowing exactly how to fix it. You spend less time guessing and just doing the work that needs to be done.

Prep. If it’s tuned, timed and laid out efficiently, you should be able to mix a track in a few hours. It took me MANY years to understand this.

I record and mix entire demos or albums in one protoools session. Typically all tracks get processed same, meaning that my kick and snare etc. Or on the same track respectively Through all songs within the session. Quick Cheat code to finish Quicker And have most songs sound somewhat the same I eat coherent album

do you think Ai is goin to take over the mixing? will this be a good thing? i mean should we producers or for that matter... all great Studios of the world.. better look for alternatives like focus more on arranging composing.. or will Ai make anything nearly alone with a quality that will surpass us? Thank You!!!*

Mixing is fairly easily. Writing and recording isnt. I add tracks till theres no more left on my Tascam 18 track.

Misleading advice.
@SonicScoop Жыл бұрын
How so? I believe it’s great advice. It is indeed how the best mixers work, and it’s how students of my course end up working. Sure, you need to take too long as you’re learning in the beginning. That’s party of the learning process. But in the long run it is neither sustainable nor beneficial to keep going that way year after year. -Justin

@@SonicScoop Mixing should start at the source. It should start with your recording and continue with each additional element. Mixing should be pretty much done before even adding a master bus. IMO

I agree with that 100% and say exactly that in a lot of videos and podcast episodes! :-) I think you might end up liking the channel if you watch it more. That is a comment I might have written myself! -Justin
