And thats why its not the real deal, like the other 99% "free" videos. Its not teaching anything, just sharing his personal cooking formula for this specific case.

@@MrFree-vj8qj sharing his specific cooking for this specific case is the most anyone can do, other than just doing your mix for you. There’s never just gonna be a hard and fast rule. He explains why he does what he is doing and that’s the most anyone can ever teach about an art like this

Its great to see someone teaching mixing with an emphasis on listening and retaining/enhancing emotion. So often the focus is on the technical side & the passion gets lost (some people forget this is art first, science second). You've got some great tips that will hopefully encourage new engineers to experiment and develop their own sound. Thanks for your time & energy. Subscribed!

Au contraire mon ami, I'm living proof of that! I have a crappy voice and singing isn't my forte, but with enough plugins, automation, takes/comping, pitch correction, and general processing, I end up with passable mixes. Granted a naturally talented singer would do better in less time, but nowadays everyone can sound good. Having said that, I agree that a good vocalist's voice & performance makes all the difference between amateur and pro...

Warren, I love this show. I went to recording school in 2000, but ended up doing live sound monitor work, which kept me away from studio work. I didn’t get to come along for the ride as the software platforms and hardware changed over the course of 19 years. All of my time was spent on live productions on a variety of stages and circumstances. You can imagine how much has changed in that amount of time. I now have a current, but basic, Pro Tools system. These tutorials are a life saver. Your easy going communication style makes this information so accessible. Thank you for being fearless- and generous enough- to share your knowledge with the rest of us.

At 14:00 when you talk about not putting great amount of EQ to a single plug-in... man, that concept is SO IMPORTANT, I've learned it from your videos and I think it's one of the most relevant things to keep in mind when your mixing. That way you are not forcing the input signal, but "growing" it. I consider this not only for EQ but in general especially with compressors and bussing. A little "here and there" of everything without losing perspective. As always, MANY thanks from Chile, Warren!

Its been an absolute honor and pleasure to observe you and your works. Cant even express how amazing your in words, sheer excellence and elegant it is. Pure class. This guy is a godsent prophet. I extremely rarely write down comments in youtube. but this time, it would be a crime not to post a feedback. With kind regards, sincerely yours, Farabi. Dhaka, Bangladesh. P.S. if the people could understand or comprehend the infinite sincerity and passioion of him, i dont know what would happen, as the mass people are just dumbheads. but sometimes i think that it is good in a way that, you have to achieve a minimal level of integrity and musical intelligence to understand the divinity of music and production. The unworthy ones do not deserve the divinity. Period.

There are a lot of effusive comments in this section from Warren stans who clearly hope to get a response from him, but this gushing paean takes the cake for sheer ridiculous excessiveness. "Godsent prophet"..."divinity"..."unworthy"...Jesus Christ, it's hard to top this comment for laying the hero worship on _way_ too thick.😆

How have I only found your channel now? The content is rich and your personality is authentic and relatable! This is fantastic. Layering that many subtleties into a vocal track adds such a character to it. I love great tutorials and find there influence creeping in to my own work but always find it hard to apply these techniques to my strange tastes in music. If there's one question I have for you, it's how do you find your own techniques? Carve your own path? How does one do something new without feeling like they are committing a heinous mixing crime? Haha! Thanks for your fantastic channel, IL be sure to watch all your videos. Thanks, A new subscriber.

Thank you ever so much Tom! That's so unbelievable kind of you my friend! Marvellous question! Finding your own path is really about putting time into it, getting past the generic settings and starting to feel what you want to add to the Production or Mix! Time is the best thing for you to develop this!

I know I've said this before, but I've watched hundreds of hours of mixing videos over many years, and you are by far the first person to present production in such an organized and transparent way makes things finally 'click' for me so Thank you! And now my question :) What inserts are using for the pitch shifted tracks? I love using that vocal rider btw it's great!

What you said about choosing takes with charisma or character when compiling is so important. Great tip! Your vocal thickening tricks really blew my mind! I have been chasing how to get that breathy sound element in a vocal for years. When you showed how you did it with morphoder i just started laughing (with joy)....brilliant!

so do you just use the distortion, morphoder and octave on the SAME vocal but on different tracks?? Wouldn't it be better to use those elements on different lead vocals?
@farvezafridifaizurrahman6980
@farvezafridifaizurrahman6980 4 жыл бұрын
@@rsmith9094 The distortion, morphoder and low-pitched vocals are meant to prop the lead vocal to the forefront and give it dimensionality. Whisper vocals add character to the top end. Distorted vocals for the mid range to cut through the mix and low end to give it thickness. All of this is not used as a creative effect, but more as a mixing tool to shape the "feel" of the track.

Honestly, just doing the volume automation made a huge difference to some mixing I did on a track with spoken work over music. The vocal was getting a bit muddy on some syllables, and just increasing the volume made all the difference.

Warren, that Tutorial was an absolute RIPPER ! I've been struggling for so long to get my Vocals to "Sit" properly in the Mix.........and now I think I have the answer.........hopefully :) So, it's off to practice these techniques. One suggestion if I may...........it would be great to hear a quick "Before and After" comparison on this Vocal.........if you have time. Zero processing vs the Final version. Great stuff as usual !! I am really enjoying these videos, there is sooo much information there. Just one comment ... when you show us some set of techniques like in this video ... and we have spent 20 minutes listening to all the snippets with and without the effects ... I personally would love to hear about 30-45 seconds at the end of the complete finished 'product' ... to be able to appreciate how it all hung together... or would there be legal issues with that? Again, keep up the good work!
