The update to it makes it way better 16x oversampling and sc filter make it imo the best on the market, I’ve tried every plug-in and the hardware at electric lady studios the midnightt by Acustica is the only one that came close and it still didn’t sound better than the unfairchild, Eric valentine and company really put a great effort into this one

The original Fairchild did actually do mid-side processing of a sort, although it was referred to as lateral/vertical.

It sounds glorious, but even compared to the UAD version, it's quite resource intensive.

I tried it, really liked it but decided I didn’t need it and got better results with the SPL Iron on the mix bus. Look forward to comparisons. Mixland also have the vac attack on the PA site for $19 so that would be an interesting comparison.

About the upcoming discussion about hardware, I don't know what you'll say both of you, but would you say say the need is becoming less and less with such emulation becoming good ? Do you think one day we'll even use them on the way in ?

The Overloud , UAD and Waves Fairchilds are more than enough, this offers much more than a standard fairchild which can be useful or goes against the point of it. I'll stick to the Overloud and UAD and Puigchild tbh i'm more than covered.

I like it but i can live with out it. And no the tin man aint shit.. The one that triggered me as a kid was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The Child Catcher. I rember having to sleep with mom and dad for a week. I always love plugin shows that bring up child hood triggers. Good Show love it. Look forward to it.

I can think of a couple of new things. Scaler EQ is a digital paragraphic EQ whose boosts and cuts are in key with the song. Melda MCenter is a mid-side balancer, but it uses spectral processing to detect the actual sides, not just the sum/difference.
