I bought this set last year and really enjoy it. I put a plastic baggie on the lid side of the container to make it able to hold water when I want a clean and dirty water. Also..I can fit 2..sometimes 3 (depends on size) of my escoda travel brushes inside the container on each side next to the paint pallet and with my sketchbook, I have everything I need for on the go. Really is a fun little set.

Hi Abigail. Thank you. I get many requests about brush and paper too. But will have that next after the paints. I think, the papers are more challenging to show in a review since theyre blanc, so we need to be wise in reviewing them and in selecting the processes.. 🙏🏻🎨😉

Is it my imagination or could the yellow part of the container be used as a water pot? The colours looked vibrant enough. Odd names though! Always fun to watch you swatch and paint out. The little box is rather nice, they are obviously looking to see how a standard size box can be improved and have come up with one solution, it seems practical if a little odd until you see the benefit. I would buy an empty box like this.

Hahaha. It's big enough to house small succulents or cactus. ☺️🌵it was funny i only realized the purpose of the design after using it and placing it on the table flat. Yeah, i wish they have that option, the tin only, just like Sennelier and Schmincke.

Haha sneaky editing/cliffhanger at the start of the vid 😂 Also i've seen from another vid that the palette doesnt really snap close, which is why the "perfume" container comes in handy to keep the palette sort of closed? Thanks for another great review 👍👍
@AllanJayQuesada4 жыл бұрын
Haha. Yes, need to do that to try to give hints and attract viewers that are hard to make stay. Yes, wasnt able to mention that the palette doesn't really close. I think that is because the set is really mean to be always kept in the perfume container or in the bag. It feels like a 'neglected' design, but when i think about, it doesn't actually need to be clipped or securely close anyway. 🎨🙏🏻

I was really interested in this set when I first saw it, especially since it's marketed with the cover/case being used for a water container when painting - kind of like the Portable Painter! If both halves could be used that way I'd probably have bought one already, but the handle means there are holes in the silvery "cup". Still an interesting design, but not for me. I'm glad the paints are good, though, I'm sure this set will be a nice gift for a beginner artist!
@AllanJayQuesada4 жыл бұрын

In the architecture school, students' stamina will be tested because of the loads of plate works, so health is a top priority. To avoid being drained, time management is a skill he should master 1st. Then, everything follows if he's determined and eager to learn. Architecture is an evolving career, and with that he needs to cope up with technology too. He'll be facing computer for design in time so he might want to explore early. The classic way, which is part of the earlier semesters, will require not just drawing and coloring skills, but more on the ability to solve and understand plans, blocks, riddles, problems. That will train his drafting and designinv skills. 😊

They different disciplines. Watercolor empahasizes translucence in your work while the opposite, opacity in gouache. While it's true that you use lesser water in gouache, it is however very hard to achieve gouache effect in most watercolors since they're made to be transparent.

@AllanJayQuesada Жыл бұрын
Hello. Honestly, both are great paints. Both are very vibrant too and easy to use. But hands down, id go with Sonnet. They've provided pigment codes, and with that, we know which colors are lightfast and not. From the 24 colors of Sonnet, only 2 or 3 are not so lightfast. With Himi, we dont have a clear basis. The only downside of Sonnet (and also a reason why it is cheap) is that the set comes in paper box only. No sturdy palette. Are you from the Philippines?

Great review as always! I have seen there gouache set everywhere and it's nice to see them branching out! I'm currently setting up a palette for portraiture and it's much more confusing than it should be! Every single time I think that I have decided on the perfect palette, I do a little bit more research and end up proving myself wrong ಥ‿ಥ So I was just wondering what colours would you pick for a 12 colour palette for portraiture? Again great review! :D
@AllanJayQuesada4 жыл бұрын
Selecting colors for your palette is very personal, enjoyable and tricky. If you're the type who prioritizes translucence in outputs, and does lots of layerings, then I would suggest an all-transparent set. Having that set avoids mixes of opaque colors and white. I personally dont use white in mixes for skin but i use white for solid highlights only. Quinacridones are a good transparent red options. Quin coral is a clean mixer. Nickel azo yellow py150nis also a very transparent yellow choose for clean applications. Add a pthalo blue carefully and now you have a triad that's all you actually need as a basic set. You may add some earth colors like burnt sienna and yellow ochre which yes, opaque but that's fine as you will need just a light wash of it so, end product is transparent.

@@AllanJayQuesada thanks! I really need something to organize all my travel brushes, pens and pencils, extra bits and tuck my watercolor field box into as well that will then tuck inside my messenger back. Do you think the 3 layer one like yours might be to big for a messenger bag to also fit other things, does your fit into a messenger bag with room for other stuff still??

@@pantalonious3984 i really find this bag the best (so far) when it comes to fitting all my stuff in one pack. I bring it along usually with my bigger travel bags. The total width of thr bag when all slots are filled is 5 inches. That i think should fit a messenger bag that has a width of 5.5 to 6inches. If it's too thick, you may want to get the one with fewer sleeves or just simply not bring everything. Hehe. ☺️

I must apologize for my last post. And thank you for being such a good sport about it. You were even gentlemanly enough to blot out my username, which was very kind of you. I was not feeling well when I watched the video, and after re-reading my post when you re-posted it I realized it went beyond constructive criticism and it did not sound very nice. I am truly sorry. Like I said, I was feeling bad and my grouchiness came through in my post, and I did not mean for it to. I enjoy watching your videos and this painting was so much better. Your lighthouse looked really good in this painting.. Kudos on the great improvement! And thanks for the review on this HIMI travel set. I have been looking at it for a while as a gift for my 11yr old granddaughter. I think I am definitely going to order it now.
