@jeydaness white nights, holbein and van gogh are all very different. But certainly all are good. I would still choose Holbein if you're getting tubes and if you're from Asia. If you prefer pans, I'd go with White Nights. They come in full pans and i think it has a different formula as compared to their tubes. Holbein pans are too expensive, so you might just want to pour your own to empty pans if you decide on getting the Holbeins.

@ thanks a lot for your response. Your channel has been very helpful in understanding these brands and Watercolors in general. I went with the white nights set for now since it is more compact and cheaper where I live. Schminke Horadam single tubes cost as much Holbein single tubes here where I live - Europe- so I figured I will fill in the paints I don’t like from white nights with those and build a semi professional set towards a more professional one slowly :) again thanks a lot

@KobieK i understand you. The 1st time i used handmade paints, i learned that they're not really comparable with commercial paints as handmades are less vibrant, more opaque, and aren't smooth. After having tried at least 3 handmades, and having watched other's experiences including handmade paint makers, i understand their side too. Handmades are more of craft and personal creations and will never get close to commercials. The case of AGallo can be different as they're like commercial paints despite being advertised as handmade.. or are they still handmade? But the price is higher than commercial paints. I guess anything handmade is gonna be more expensive.. whether it's food or dresses or bags or paints. 😊

Small batch anything is going to be more expensive. Professional paints are usually manufactured in an assembly line of some kind. Admittedly have tried some handmade paints that have disappointed me, but others have a lovely opaque quality that makes them useful to me as portable gouache. Really depends on your style + what you look for. I too travel with a mixed Sennelier/Rosa Gallery/Schmincke/Daniel Smith palette.

Hahaha. They're real live roosters by my neighbour. They crow 24/7 but they're louder during 5am to 8am which is the time when I also take videos. It's the time where there's lesser car and people noises. So i choose the roosters over the other noises. And yes, im used and desensitised already. I can sleep with their cries. Haha

Both brands are good, but I prefer the Mission Gold if im using straight from tubes but i prefer holbein if i need to pour them to pans as they dry better. Colors wise i think mission hold a tiny bit more intense.

@@AllanJayQuesada oh yes i started using them about a week ago. they are amazing! i only tried three colors to start, bright yellow lake, ultramarine blue and yellow ochre, they are all beautiful paints, i really appreciate that they labled the paint with drying speed and hight/low oil content, very useful for choosing colors. I already ordered 3 more tubes and can't wait to try them 😊

@mariachua9617 thanks too. There are no genuine Cadmiums and cobalts here and those 2 lines are the 2 know toxic pigments. However, there are still other pigments that may be toxic if consumed in very large amounts. I do not know every pigments toxicity level though. On the otherhand, based on market studies, the amounts in paints are not so high to really poison atleast humans. Still, take care. 😊

@lottedekoning538 thank you. 🙏 yes, I really need a mid and deep red, like an Alizarin, but their mid reds are not the most lightfast.. though I know it is not much of a concern in oil.. a color I'm looking at is the Cadmium Red Deep. For the Purple, I'm torn between Manganese Violet and Ultramarine Pink. Actually, an artist I appreciate so much told me his top 2 brands are old holland and michael harding. It just so happened that michael harding was the one on sale in November, so i took advantage of the offer. 😅

It's my pleasure. I already have there Yellow Ochre. In oils, i love opaque paints. I love lavender and gray too but I'm still convincing myself to get multiple pigment-color this time since it's not much of an issue, unlike in watercolors. I love lavender for sunset skies. 😍
