When traveling by car, when I was a child, I used do look throuh the mountains, bumps, trees, fences and houses that sorrounded the road and imagine myself driving a fast motobike jumping and running along with the car, avoiding all the obstacles with crazy jumps or running over thin barberwires of the fences. Other times, I imagine the shape of a mountais in fact was a carpet covering a huge lizard that could, sudenly get up and move all the landscape. Miyazaki is a genius.

I used to imagine hand fingers as legs and jump off buildings in way in bus. It’s just imagination.

The mountain covering the giant lizard, just the same as the snake that eats an elephant, but adults can only see a hat. The imagination of kids that we don't allow to grow when we are adults, and we forget the important things.

My favorite moment from the documentary. If I'm not mistaken, it might be the only scene in the documentary that has clips from the films, and they use them so effectively.

@@hersheltriton3729 He seems so depressed and defeated in some of that film, it's sad because he devoted so much of his life to his art and it seems like he doesn't actually get that much from the experience.

At some point i regret growing out of my childish imagination as believing it wouldnt serve any purpose at all and made me look childish. I can still make stories now but it aint as charming as the hopeful tone of a childish imagination and a memorable journey that is built by matured story telling skills. Turns out we need these imagination the most when we grown up as life gets harder from this point on, Parenting also requires imagination skills from time to time to keep you and the kids stays connected.

maybe if you make stories than you start to get better at it.

He thought the same way I did when I was a kid. As I grew I said, why not make it real. So I started running and jumping. Now I freerun when I have the time and occasionally, rarely, the world is magical.

Just an amazing moment. Such restraint from Sunada to feature only 40 seconds of Ghibli clips right near the end of the film. Its impact, therefore, is huge.

Whenever I watch Bojack and now Tuca and Bertie, I remember this clip. Without Lisa Hanawalt the series would feel empty or at least feel like something is missing. A full dimension of animation that isn't explored by many.

Only through the power of one's imagination they can enjoy the world the way it was meant to be
I wonder if he has read Winsor McCay's stories, especially Little Nemo in Slumberland. There is a lot of visual artwork in that comic that shows the wold the way Miyazaki likes to see it.
@mosbydirette2 жыл бұрын
He surely did. He was supposed to work on Little Nemo adaptation together with people like Brad Bird back in the 80s, but then Miyazaki called himself out. Also, there are some old interviews in which Miyazaki talks about McCay.
