I almost feel bad for Gigi for being put in this position. Not the position of winning, obviously, but one where she's been put in the line of fire because another queen was robbed in favor of her, especially considering that she had no say in the matter outside of performing her heart out. Think of how people came for Trixie and Kennedy when Shangela wasn't chosen by the other queens in AS3 - some even invalidating Trixie's win completely, or Roxxxy being hated because Detox and Alaska kept saving her. Hell, even the lingering controversies of Tyra and Raja's wins over Raven and Manila. All those queens did was perform to the best of their ability, the rest was up to RuPaul. Long story short: Just because Jan deserved to win doesn't mean that Gigi deserves backlash from a decision outside of her control. EDIT: In response to every saying Gigi did or did not deserve the win, that's not the point I'm trying to make. Regardless of who deserved to win, more viewers than not are saying that Gigi has already been chosen as a winner and that it's not fair to the other queens. The point I'm trying to make is that whether that is or isn't the case, *Gigi isn't to blame*. Gigi is doing exactly what every other queen has done in this competition since the season one: Her damn job. She and every other queen on that stage are just performing their best to win the competition; once the runway is done, the rest is in the judges' (and producers') hands.

I just wish that Ru would give everybody a little more recognition and be more varied with who she picks as challenge winners. I feel like as the show has gone on Ru's decisions have been becoming more predictable and she'll only give wins to the same two or three queens every season. Like we've had seven episodes and yet only 4 queens have won a challenge this entire time.

You know how it is...judges go crazy for flips and splits and splats and all sorts of acrobatics stuff...as if they’ve never seen a single queen do those things. 😒 Don’t get me wrong moves like that are amazing, and I’m always in awe of anyone who can do those things, but the way that the judges react to them is just...idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think there is some choice. Imagine if someone like Sherry or Widow had been cast as Unapologetic Madonna. I'm sure they would have amended the routine so there was no backflip in it. Or perhaps they would have surprised us and kept it anyway.

tbh Jan has a very good voice and she knows how to dance. However, you can clearly see in her performance that she is swallowed by the background dancers. She lacks the showmanship and the stage presence that Madonna always has. You being the embodiment of Madonna should be the spotlight and not the dancers. I've said this elsewhere but I'll repeat it. Jan got duped into going first and had one of the worst parts. She was amazing but early Madonna was not as iconic as later versions of Madonna and that part of the Rusical just wasn't as good. I knew she was going to lose the moment they tricked her into taking that part. First and last were the worst choices.

Early Madonna is so iconic and heavily parodied in pop culture. As well as being one of her most recognised looks in my opinion. Basically she is the female personification of the 80’s! What more can you ask for. Least we not forget that Drag is also about illusion, as well as entertainment; and not just the conceptualisation of Illusion, but the complete execution of it too. That is where the art comes in. And what Ru creams her knickers for. Gigi is better at this “art”. Well, that’s what the judges seem to think. What he lacks in other departments he makes up in serving full on fish (illusion); Ru& Co love that. Look at Aquaria. Gigi & her have more in common than we realise. Look queens that stand out for more than their beauty, who are entertaining and individual too, always go far. Though in fairness being a “unique” looking beauty is the big plus for both of them. And the key to this debacle. Jan on the other hand is a very good entertainer, but is it enough? When it suits the Judges no! It only seems to work for them when the talent is 100% singular and sickening (i.e Bianca, Bob....). Personality is key. Unfortunately, the judges will be thinking “we have seen the likes of Jan before” - it’s true we have - and this will always work against her. If she wants to win, she really needs to step her pussy up and way out of the box. She needs to give us more than the Broadway baby. Jan needs to carve a niche as Jan the definitive personality that Drag Race have never filled before and do it every episode.

Early Madonna was really difficult to nail down since it's not as iconic as the later ones (as you mentioned). Her choreo was also not as strong or powerful as the rest. She was definitely given one of the worst parts and she didn't have a choice.

No, she wasn't. She didn't bring enough energy in front of the judges while Gigi absolutely destroyed everyone. Jan should have kept it 100 like she did while recording and learning the choreography but she had less powerful movements in the actual performance while Gigi went above and beyond and surprised everyone - as she was one of the worst during her recordings.

I felt for her too, she was so sad I was kinda teary. I said before and I'll say it again, she used her cockiness like an armor as she was buckling under the pressure when she realized her NY status wasn't gonna give her relevance in the competition.
