Anna Oop I was surprised when Gigi did amazing in the challenge. And I think that’s what pushed her that tiny bit over Jan. Because with Jan - we already expect her to do well with challenges like these. Gigi’s part actually made my jaw drop with how she carried herself from start to finish, and you can tell the judges weren’t expecting that from her. To each their own though.

See, I don't get that. Jan's performance was good but all the while I was watching her, it just felt like she was resting on the fact that she knew she'd be great at it and that was enough for her. Then with Gigi, there was actual fire in her performance with her expressions and emotive dance moves that Jan just didn't have to the same degree. Jan just didn't have the same spark, IMO.

I think that she did really great on the performance, but her outfit (even though it was a look Michelle wore and we remember the look) it was a little unfitted. So maybe her outfit was the reason why she didn't win. It's season 12 so they're paying a lot of attention to detail (maybe...I hope) Althoguh, Gigi winning for me, looked annoying, I love Gigi. It was done for two storyline purposes. The first one being Gigi struggling in prep and then doing well so she wins. The second being Jan wanted to win this so bad so they pulled the “you wanted this, you’re not winning to cause drama/tension and to crack you” also it could be noted that Alexis Michele is Jan’s drag mother, who coincidentally also lost the rusical in her season.

At this point I feel like they are really just stacking up the wins for Gigi so that her crowning at the end will appear justified, but I feel like this will only hurt her case. Ru's favoritism over Gigi is ruining this season for me. Don't get me wrong, I think Gigi is really talented, but I feel like her merits are being exaggerated and part of her praise is biased. These girls are being rewarded $5000 for being named the winner of the challenge and it would be nice to see the other queens getting rewarded for their talent too. It really saddens me that a lot of that talent is being overlooked and underappreciated only because of Ru's fixation with Gigi. We also have to remember that the judges give their opinions but it is Ru who decides who wins and who goes home. I think that if the judges had a saying on that matter, we would get very different outcomes.

The show is going out of it's way to gag the audience. Personally, I'm fine with a fair competition, I dont need edited drama or robbed queens to make the show interesting. Jan not winning was like Aiden Zhane staying safe most of the season so far or shangela not winning AS3: stupid gags to keep things spicy. But it always backfires. Shangela not winning made it possible (necessary?) for Monet to win AS4 bc the hall of fame was all white girls - which it wouldnt have been in the first place if they didnt screw queens over and rewarded deserving queens. So when we get a skinny, young white winner of this season, I'm just thinking about how they're going to try and set the racial balance right later on down the road. Just a theory.
