My Gym Failed.. Now What?

Architect here, the smell from the floor is likely water coming up through concrete. Since this looks like it was a warehouse at one time, they probably did not use a water impermeable layer under the concrete when they poured the floor. One option could be to seal the top side of the concrete with epoxy, then put your finish floor on top of that. It's not a perfect solution but it should reduce the water seepage through the concrete.

IF the smell under the mats is from a floor drain. There needs to be water in the drain to fill the p-trap to prevent sewage gas from coming through. If the water evaporates, which I'm guessing it is. Use vegetable oil to fill the p-trap.

i'd say stay away from anime in the main weightlifting gym areas. the name of the gym gives so much leeway into potential artwork relating to some fiery environment like that. i'd say go with some viking/nordic aesthetic too. they were very combat oriented so it could go with the mma/boxing portion of the gym. also increase transparency with your members: email updates acknowledging concerns, plans for improvement, etc. (note: make sure the plans are actually in effect when sending out those types of emails if you go through with this. I'd hate to hear "we planning X." only to not see progress within a couple months because management is still trying to allocate funds or whatever.) Your primary concerns right now should be mirrors, website, and sauna, and you can tackle all those simultaneously.

It failed because you never cared to have a successful gym and this was all for content and views, and their expectation was "a lot of viewers are going to wanna come to our gym" so they marketed this to mainly twitch viewers and we all know those people dont go outside or exercise, its also barely a gym and charges more than most gyms. Their selling point was the MMA and stuff and at that point you just get a smaller location with less fees, this hybrid thing isn't best of both worlds its a little of each world.

$200-300k on elliptical equipment is either just an absurd youtube exaggeration number, or just an assumption based on other equipment costs. However, that equipment shown in the video would (assuming) there's around 20 machines would need to at the very least average $10k/machine which is roughly double even the highest ranged elliptical on the market, which those are not. I would estimate the cost of those machines was likely a tenth of that estimated value and that is still a fairly high estimate considering how dated that equipment is.

It looks like they likely got a lot of their equipment from a closing gym (considering the rust on a lot of the machines), meaning they likely spent even less than that estimate before, and if all the equipment was used, accounting for wholesale cost on used equipment likely 200-300k would be likely higher total amount spent on ALL equipment.
